Miss Bussel's made a nice comic about it.

Nice one... by that logic, people who play Trauma Center: Second Opinion will all become doctors, and people who play Paper Mario will become invisible when turning sideways. (I got that from another forum, but it was too good not to quote here)

This Jack Thompson comic from a couple years ago offers a good theory. Mine is that he wants to ban video games because he tried playing them once and really sucked.

Actually, I'm against gun violence in video games too. I prefer machetes or that pole thingy with the four blades at the end.
Signatures are overrated.

Ok...I'll probably be shouted at for this...but, well...surely the culture and society he grew up in is possibly partly involved in him doing that...and movies and video games are part of that culture, aren't they?

Though, given that Canadians have proportionately less shootings than Americans, while still having lots of guns (so I'm told), but presumably have much the same games and movies, they would have to be a very small part.

I just think he's a fucking cunt who should be hung on a tree and shot. The reason I originally brought this up is that he made use of the massacre to justify his (false) arguments, and I think that's a disgrace in today's society.

It's like when those vampire priests in the Middle Age were preaching that the sins of women (for example, but something that's convenient for them to rant about) were causing all those natural disasters (like the small Ice Age).

Ah, well, yes...but then you don't get far if you don't use every opportunity to slander your opponents. I mean, what about them loony cultists that protested at the funerals cause the people killed were all evil? In that, god would not have had them killed if they weren't...the godhatefags people that said the boxing day tsunami was a good thing...

Oh, and then gun control came out, with people saying if everyone was tooled up it couldn't have happened...that's politics for you.

Though, many of them Middle Ages priests wouldn't have known better...the ones that did were wrong to do so, of course, but the ones that didn't know any better jsut didn't know any better.

If you slander your opponents to an extreme extent and attempt to blame absolutely every problem in the world on them, then you'll be considered a douchebag, and not them. Not a very practical method.

I'd beg to differ. You should be considered a douchebag, and it shouldn't be a very practical method...but people do it alot because it often works.

It;s not going to work, because anyone who's played a video game doesn't believe his bullshit. And I believe at least 75% of Americans have played video games.

Moreover, the people who take J. T. seriously aren't taken seriously by anyone else. And they're not abundant in numbers, only in ignorance and bigotry.

Ok, in this case not so much...but then whenever something goes the slightest bit wrong, the opposition comes out and blames it on the government for being smacktards.

Though, there once was a guy that really did kill someone sort of cause he was palying video games...well...he was on drugs and decided it'd be fun to do it for real...

I guess it's like saying "mobile phones really do kill you...look at that guy who was stabbed to death in a German beer-garden for not answering his phone that had an annoying ring tone".

That actually happened, apparently...though it was a beer-garden, you'd expect alcohol played a large part.

You're wrong if you think this JT guy isn't a threat, David. Many clever men are necessary to fix the damage caused by a single ignorant with power. I know that by experience.

I guess you're right. Hmm, take the opposition party leaders of almost any country for example.
