I'm just going to say it, because it's true even if you don't think it is.

AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE IS A TERRIBLE SHOW.

There, I said it. I've watched more than a couple episodes, just to be sure I didn't catch a dud or two. No, it really sucks. It isn't funny. It is a Pure Moods CD for your television. And the particular mood they chose -- stupid.

What must have happened is a couple of people were sitting around watching Family Guy, and they thought to themselves, "Hey, this show is really random every once in a while! And this show is popular! Random is popular!" They then proceeded to make a show about a milkshake and a carton of french fries. Then, a bunch of random things happen. They left "humorous" out of the equation.

And yet, the show is still popular! Immensely popular!

What is going on here? Am I the victim of the world's biggest inside joke? Because I don't get it. Do people think they are being clever by liking something that makes no sense, and that the rest of us who don't like the show just "aren't smart enough to get it"?

To steal from Forrest Gump: "I may not be a smart man, but I know what [humor] is."

The three things that annoy me the most about ATHF are as follows:

1. The show itself. Don't waste my precious time with ridiculous, random stupidity. If I want that, I'll fire up Firefox.

2. The stupid bomb scare. You're an idiot for pulling something like that and you deserve to go to jail for it. I don't care if the people of Boston were too paranoid -- you knew what was going to happen and you did it anyway. If I point a gun with no bullets in it at a gas station attendant, you'd better believe the police are going to show up and throw me in a cell. It doesn't matter if I scream "But there were no bullets in that gun!" the whole way to the station.

3. The advertisements for the show on Adult Swim. Right in the middle of several Family Guy (a show that deserves to be watched) episodes that I've never seen, a huge milkshake appears on the screen and mutes out the show. It's not enough that we have pop-up ads all over the internet, now we have it on TV, too! Thanks, Aqua Teen Hunger Force! You're about as useful as a one-armed man in a mayonnaise jar opening competition!

And just for that, I'm not going to see your stupid movie, even if I got PAID to go see it. Even if I liked the show I wouldn't go see it, just because of #3. Because if I did, it would send a message to other marketers that being obnoxious and stupid in the middle of somebody's show is rewarding. I don't want to reward these Pavlovian dogs. I want to beat them like an aggressive pit bull owner would.

END OF RANT.

This isn't really on topic for a fullyramblomatic forum, but I am simply wondering if I am not alone.

No, your not alone
the show is pretty stupid
but thats part of it's appeal.

When u watch the show
essentially your not looking for
a thought provoking whale of a time.

It's stupid for the sake of being stupid
nothing more nothing less.

I understand that stupidity is part of the appeal, but can't you get your dose of that with Family Guy, South Park, Simpsons...? And at least those shows have some redeeming quality other than weirdness.

Ya i agree those shows
have redeeming qualities

But haven't you ever gone
to see a really stupid movie

to laugh your ass off
but were disappointed

b/c it was ridiculously stupid?
In that case you've got no

one to blame but yourself
Hollywood caters to that

level of filth and the public
on a grand scale eats it up.

Don't hate the creators, writers
and animators of ATHF

they're just filling a need
and trying to make some money

like most of us

Alright Allright
here is the lowdown on
why i write like this
in the beginning i used

to write alot

So to make them easier to read
i split them into stanzas

or what i like to call Blank/Free Verse
And it kind of stayed with me
So there thats the BIG secret
I must say Frankie,

you aren't the first to questions my methods
and i guess you won't be the last.

I was curious, that's all.

But no, I don't believe I've ever gone to see a stupid movie and been turned off by the retardation that ensued. For instance, Dumb and Dumber is a pretty funny movie. See, a movie can be stupid and funny. ATHF is just stupid.

When I read a review that says, "If you're not a fan of ___ show, you won't like the ___ movie," and I don't like the show, I don't go see the movie.

CJ -- I was simply implying that if I want to see stupidity en masse, the internet is a pretty good place to go, don't you think?

First of all, anyone who can't tell the difference between a light brite and a bomb is a fucking moron who watches too many action movies. And your gun-pointing analogy is inaccurate. A more correct analogy would be a man pointing a nerf styrofoam disc gun at a gas station attendant, and the attendant pissing his pants in fear.

And Family Guy sucks out loud. Anything is more entertaining than watching the flashback device get the living shit kicked out of it repeatedly for 22 solid minutes because the writers are too worthless to actually integrate the jokes into the plot.

But I do agree that ATHF is hit or miss most of the time.

And one more thing: why is this even in the FR forums?

http://www.cnn.com/2...ston.bombscare/

Read that before you keep talking.

Not only were the electronic devices unannounced, they were mounted to bridges and commuter roads. Where would you put a bomb? Not only that, but Turner waited for HOURS before they FAXED a letter to the police. And, in the letter, they did not give the locations of the devices.

As far as your opinion on whether or not to consider the devices a bomb, I have one simple question. How many bomb squads have you served on?

That's your opinion and I can respect your dislike of FG. My only comment is that Family Guy is widely considered to be funny, except by those who dislike the aforementioned flashback device. I personally don't mind it.

I already answered that question. But...did you see any other worthwhile conversations happening right now? (hint: the fangirl topic doesn't count)

The only worthwhile show in the Adult Swim lineup is Metalocalypse.

That is all.

I don't even know what the fuck this is, because we don't import every show here. This is a good thing, I guess.
