The second one certainly didn't get 100% good reviews from us... I didn't give it a good review because I fear Janey, I gave it a good review because I tried to be non-critical so I'd enjoy the movie better. After all, it's nearly $10 for a theater ticket these days, I'd like to enjoy my experience. I might criticise it more the second time I see it, whenever that might be.

I just got back from seeing it and I thought it was a solid movie. Thouroughly enjoyable.

Honestly, I think that scene is what sold the ending of their part of the story for me.

I know it may sound crazy but after reading
the highlighted text i decided i would see it again,
and today i did. Worth every cent and then some

the scene is a good proper ending and necessary
like a "this is our ending but if need be we'll have a fourth...maybe" ending
if that made sense

And the film seemed shorter the second
time around but no less enjoyable.

i think i could watch it again
when it comes out on dvd

Ah, i saw it last weekend, and i really, really loved it. The middle got a little tedious, and the calypso plotline made me shudder a few times, but besides that, its definately the best i've seen in theaters so far this year.(loads better than spiderman 3)

it's taken a harsh beating on Rottentomatoes and imdb though.

Yeah yeah, bitching about Spider-man 3. What else is new? Save it for the right thread.

My understanding is that Calypso's last act was creating the maelstrom/arena instead of granting her favor to Davy Jones or the pirates (since at that point, both had done something to piss her off).

I just wish I could understand what the hell she was saying in that deep scary god-voice laughing at Barbossa before she exploded into a billion crabs. It's funny, I could understand her perfectly through the accent in both movies, but when they get to that one part I'm desperate for subtitles. Wish I knew what Sao Feng was saying when Elizabeth was being dressed up on his ship, too...

ALSO: There's a fan-trend to keep repeating or referencing certain jokes from each movie. In the first one, it was, "Why is the rum gone?", and the second was Jack and his Jar of Dirt. From what I've seen so far, I think the big joke with this one will either be something to do with Jack while he's in the Locker - i.e. the peanut, the goat (that was a whole world of "WTF?" for me), or the rock - or Davy Jones and his bucket.

yea, the whole reasoning is pretty clear for me, i just don'tlike how she got giant all of the sudden, that was really cheesey. if she had just skipped that and exploded into crabs, that would have been cooler.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the DVD so I can slap the subtitles on and figure some stuff out. I also just plain didn't get some parts, like why Sao Feng thought Elizabeth was Calypso and stuff.

And the peanut joke has definitely been going around here. A friend of mine has taken up carrying peanuts around so he can pull them out of people's hair, say, "Hmm! A peanut!" and eat it. rolleyes.gif tongue.gif

You have a cool friend. I want a cool friend to do that with. happy.gif

And I'm trying to remember if they told him they had Calypso on board, but Elizabeth was the only woman he had seen. So I think that's how it came up.

Coupld be wrong...I'm half-stoned right now and need sleep. I'll check tomorrow.

It is a mystery, both times i saw the movie i had
someone asking me what she said in that deep voice...
I also have no clue, but if i had to guess it was a swear.

my theatre had subtitles but you
needed one of those mirror screens to see them
The other reoccuring joke was the "Thank you Jack" to the monkey

Im not exactly sure but
i think its said like 3 times which is a
little much if you don't remember the original meaning

A much better movie than Dead Man's Chest; I was pleasantly surprised. Some parts still dragged, but the brilliance that is the character of Davey Jones saved it for me. He was complex, dynamic and tormented, with plenty of villainy to go round, and some of the most impressive CGI I've ever seen. My only major gripe about the movie was...well...Jack Sparrow. That character wore out his welcome sometime around the middle of Dead Man's Chest, and he didn't get any fresher in the sequel. But all in all, a satisfactory ending to an inconsistent series.

As a Captain Jack fangirl, I feel it my duty to say this:

I still love the Jack Sparrow character (though admittedly not as much as Janey); but I did think having multiples was a bit too much Captain Jack. And his character seemed to degenerate for me, from the first movie to the last. But he's still lovable. ...And hot. tongue.gif It's weird, though, I wouldn't have thought that particular look would do it for me. And honestly, the thought of that much dirt and grime and bad teeth makes me cringe. (Were it real.) tongue.gif

The scenes in the
Doldrums and in the Brig
were purely for the Jack lovers.
It really had no serious effect on the story.

Except to validate his harem of fans.
But naturally to appease those less fascinated
by the dreadlock wonder the secenes were given a purpose.

but as my cousin says
who needs purpose when you have Jack
