i would like to solicit the opinions of all who read this thread. I am trying to compile a list of 100 people who you feel would fit the role of being the all-time most mysterious people (living or deceased.)

There are many famous people who tend to have a sort of mysterious way about them. Its in what they do, or what they have accomplished in their lifetime. Some tend to shy away from public speculation into their eccentric mannerisms.

Is Elvis alive or dead? Some believe he is alive and well to this very day living out his golden years on a secluded isle in the south pacific. Elvis is just one example, there are many others for you to consider.

Please feel free to submit any famous person you can think of, whom you feel is very mysterious.

** there is only one rule regarding this: it has to be a real person!.**** so batman & spiderman dont count (even though they both tend to have a certain mysteriousness about them)...and uh,.no,..peter parker and bruce wayne dont count either, nice try though...lol.

I will allow for about a 3 month time-frame for this thread to garner as many nomination submissions as possible. the more "votes" a certain celebrity gets, the better their chances are of remaining on the finalized list of 100 most mysterious people. This thread will have a final report on who made the 100 list on 7/7/07. (all 7's...just cause,..no special reason for that day, other than it being easy for me to remember)

here is a partial preliminary list i compiled of some people who i feel are mysterious. this list, of course, is not definitive,.. and based upon your nominations (and especially the number of votes we get for any particular person) it can clearly eliminate many from this list.

(in no particular order)

1. marilyn monroe
2. marilyn manson
3. bruce lee
4. brandon lee
5. jim morrison
6. elvis presley
7. prince
8. michael jackson
9. leonardo da vinci
10. vincent van gogh
11. eddie van halen
12. gene simmons
13. ben franklin
14. albert einstein
15. adolf hitler
16. buckethead
17. cher
18. james dean
19. jesus christ
20. ru paul
21. joan of arc
22. stephen king
23. anna nicole smith

thats all i can think of right now,..but lets hear some nominations from you. remember, deadline is July 7th, 2007.

Peter Brady was by far the ugliest Brady kid on the "Brady Bunch". I mean, they were all pretty ugly, and the fact that the Brady dad wanted to always take the boys out on overnight camping trips just a tad bit too often, gave me the creeps.

Funny you didn't think to list Jimmy Hoffa.

Grigori Rasputin, definitely.

Also, Tom Cruise. If by mysterious you mean "Is this guy really insane or is he just kidding?"

And, uh... I'll get back to you on that. The deadline's ridiculously far away, so I should have plenty of time.

What's so mysterious about van Gogh?

he cut his ear off and sent it to a woman he loved, for starters. he also is reknowned for eccentric paintings, his most famous being "starry night".

Santa Clause,

I assume you are referring to Saint Nicholas?

http://en.wikipedia..../Saint_nicholas

thats the only entry that would qualify, as Saint Nicholas was a real person that actually lived a life and passed away. Santa Claus wouldnt qualify for a nomination being that he is a never-dying fabled legend that returns every year. year upon year, etc. Easter Bunny and other similiarities would fall into this same category.

Uh... and that makes him mysterious how?

thats the whole purpose of this thread. if you feel someone doesnt qualify for this thread, then submit other candidates who you feel are more qualified than a previous entry aforementioned.

there will be many entries, and there will be much debate over who is more qualified than who. votes are encouraged by any and all chefelfers who read this thread. the more nominations a single person gets, the better their chances are of remaining in the top 100.

on 7/7/07, all submitted nominations will be tallied and a revised list of the 100 people that made the list will be posted on this thread.

Hannibal should totally be on the list. And maybe that chap who trolls about Howard Hughes.

DS has kind of an air of mystery about him, its not necessarily a bad thing. He's like a tall dark stranger who sometimes dosnt make sense.
