kirsten dunce...lmfao..why the hell did sam raimi cast her for the role of mary jane?

surely there are scores of redheads in this world that look far more beautiful than, kirtsen dunst does.

Probably.

Just saw the film a few hours ago. I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would, but the film did feel overstuffed and seemed to drag on longer than it needed to. Topher Grace was badly as miscast as Venom/Eddie Brock (God forbid they hire a real man to play Venom), the symbiote storyline needed a different set of films dedicated just to them instead of being a subplot, Gwen Stacy and her dad served no real purpose (poor Bryce Dallas Howard, a natural red head given what must have been the worst bleach job in the history of bad bleach jobs), Sandman was alright but out of place. On th whole, the film should have just focused on the conflict of Peter/Spidey and Harry/Green Goblin #2 (or new goblin or whatever his official tag is supposed to be).

There were definitely some fun parts and the action set pieces were well done.

So I don't really hate it or love it either way.
I am the Fisher King.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

One other thing, which is spoiler-esque, without actually revealing any story details: the Spiderman I read about in the comics was pretty strong, yeah, and he could take a punch, sure, but mostly he got by on having amazing reflexes and a "sense" for danger (which helped the reflexes further). I don't remember him being nigh-indestructible. For these reasons I hated every action sequence in the film that had Spidey getting tossed around by a much faster villain, who smashed his head and spine against solid and immobile objects of great mass. That is to say, I hated every action sequence in the film. The punishment Spidey takes in this one should have killed him nine times over, and paralyzed him at least twice.

Actually, it stands to reason that Lucifer is pretty damned sexy, too - considering he was one of the very top angels and all before he decided to take a little free will for himself. I've never heard of an ugly angel.

And really, I think the majority of the forums (and the world) find David Bowie sexy, so if anyone's opinions don't count, it'd be yours. smile.gif

Yeah, supposedly Lucifer was god's most beautiful angel or something. So I'd imagine he's fine as fuck.

That is a good point. It's so commonplace in action films these days that I barely noticed. There is definitely a scene where Green Goblin II or Sandman flies Spider-Man through the air, smashing his skull and back into every building along the way. The result... a lot of broken buildings. Spider-Man's suit doesn't even tear!

I saw Spiderman 3 this afternoon and I walked out before the movie ended. Absolutely terrible. This movie makes Revenge of the Sith seem like an academy award winner.

Yes, worse than ROTS. The dialogue was horrible. One scene that comes to mind is when Aunt May is explaining how her and Uncle Ben swam to an island where she was proposed to. For a second, I seriously thought that George Lucas and Jonathan Hales teamed up to write part of the script. A lot of the dialogue involving love scenes made me continuously cringe, and that's something that hasn't happened since I first saw AOTC.

As for the special effects, they may have been impressive if I could actually see what was going on. Some of the actions scenes seemed like somebody took a camera and started rapidly shaking it.

This movie was more liek a comic book than any other superhero movie ever made. That is, the characters spent pages and pages talking to one another about their feelings. That's what I always hated about superhero comics, how much of that there is. I recently picked up a Spiderman comic, somethign I hadn't done in a while, and the whole thing was about how now that everyone knows Spidey's secret identity, Mary Jane can't get acting gigs. Apparently the notoreity is hurting her career (???). So she walks around and has some conversations with some people, including Aunt May. Then inexplicably, after 28 pages of nothing, Spidey shows up all bloody and hurt, and everyone is shocked. To be continued! If I had bought the comic, and wasn't just flipping through it in the comic shop, I would have thrown it across the room.

Storm: I agree that the action sequences were terribly filmed and it was hard to tell what was going on. Yeah, spidey should definitely have done more dodging and evading than taking stuff that only Superman really should be.

Snoopaloop: David Bowie is getting pretty old now, but he was pretty damned hot when he was younger, which is really saying something, since I'm a straight guy and don't often notice the attractiveness factor on other guys. You don't know what you're talking about.

CivL Yeah, the comics all go to hell like that. They go into crazy story lines and then back flip and tapdance over sharks all the time, and change their own histories, and it just gets convoluted and stupid. And they love to do the soap opera thing like you mentioned. It's a lot like those shitty TV anime series, actually...

Ms. Dunst is very pretty, and so is Ms. Howard. Ms. Howard > Ms. Dunst even with her hair atrociously dyed. I think it's a crime to do such things to a natural redhead. sad.gif

the movie could have used more full frontal female nudity to balance out all the soppyness.

not terribly true to the comics, i know, but i think most would have let it go.

Just saw it... I agree with all the other stuff said about it. tongue.gif However, I have one thing to add: The beginning! Did no one else notice how atrocious it was? All the little clips and stills from the previous two movies, chopped up jagged to fit cutely in little web holes? I felt like I was watching an amateur's tribute film.

But I had fun watching it with my lil' bro, and we both had fun comparing it to the comics/tv series and talking about the good parts and parts that could have been improved, so it was worth the time and money for me.
