What are the good EU books and book series that I should hunt out to read?

The Dark Nest Trilogy for sure.
Though, you should probably read the
Force Heretic Trilogy

Vector Prime and
Unifying Force first
since that's the proper order!

I only read X-Wing - Operation Iron Fist (is that its real title? huh.gif Can't remember) and found it to be very good and entertaining, since it had some really nice characters and made the Star Wars universe believable and exciting.

Well, then again, I'm hardly what you'd call a learned person or even literate, so don't give too much about my opinion.

Wraith Squadron and Iron Fist are both fast paced and well written. The Thrawn Trilogy is also essential. Other than that, whatever sparks your fancy really.
