Well, it has happened again. I am, once again, a chef. I don't know how it happened but it did. Perhaps it was my need for money. Or maybe it was the fact that of the 100 or so resumes I've dished out in the past few months I've gotten about three responses and they were all rejections.

One call placed to an old friend and I am to be taking the place of a catering chef in a lucrative catering company. Yay!

I will do my best to keep this site up to date and such. My hours shouldn't be too crazy, however, they will probably be substantially more than the zero hours a week I've been working for a while.

So next week I begin this job. My only concern is that it will interfere with my Tiger Woods playing time. Hopefully I will still have the time to devote to that game and my other generally worthless passtimes.

TTFN!

That's great news, congratulations! I can attest for your culinary knowledge by the fact that velveeta and american slices are piling up and I am digging grilled cheddar cheese sandwiches! I know everyone is really pleased for you!

Actually, I've only just recently made the bold move of venturing outside the safety and familiarity of the Star Wars forum. There's some nice stuff out here... a bit more variety and a little more personal than just talking about bad movies.

I'll have to stop by your office more often, Chefelf, to see how things are going.

So far, eh? unsure.gif ....

Well, hang in there. I have to teach English to lots of little Korean kids... most of who can't speak a word of it... and those who can usually have attitudes from hell.

But I think there's something secure about having a job that makes us stick with it, even when the going is tough... it's because the process of looking for a new job is always worse.

That said, I hope that being a chef is a lot better than teaching children who can't understand anything you say.

Hope you're still getting enough Tiger Woods playing time.

Oooh! Thanks for reminding me! I have a Real-Time Event to attend to! wink.gif

Teaching ANYONE English must be a nightmare. What an odd language!

A very odd language! Just check out the past tense forms of our words or our strange aversion to spelling things phonetically.... and that's just a small sample of the craziness of our language. ohmy.gif

Language is funny, period. Here's something we all know: the order of adjectives, considering colour, number, size, nationality, rank, etc. There is a proper order for these. Rearrange the following:

American blond big twelve black-eyed soldier wealthy beautiful boys.

Now: try to explain why you rearranged it the way you did, to a Japanese businessman.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).
