Well, I tried to reply but the Reply Flood Control was enabled. It said the post data was saved (but FireFox saves the post data anyway). I went back because I might want to edit it. I didn't, as it turned out. When I posted, it had the same text twice.

I have no idea if that's what happened to you....
As I was testing out my theory that people who do homages love anagrams, I came across this:

Mere Toss. This is an Anagram of Somerset.

Perhaps all of that 'Guardian of the Timeline' stuff was 'mere toss.'

It also 'seems rot' to me.

Realm of Magick: A Magic Elm Fork. Is this the Tall Man's weapon?

An anagram of "Lawrence Rory Guy" (The real name of the man who played 'The Tall Man') is:
"Rear Clone Guy Wry." There was something special about the last clone, but I don't think it was his sardonic wit. But if the last clone is indeed the old Trilby in CHZO (Which it is), then the other meaning of 'wry,' twisted or contorted, might apply somewhat. (obviously merely a coincidence)

Clones of Trilby: Forcibly Stolen
DeFoe Manor Incident: 'A Cindered Omen if not.' Perhaps a response to "Is this the end?"

But I must confess there is no anagrammatical evidence to suggest an homage.

Perhaps it was a coincidence.

You may be right, Tall Man is probably a very common character name, or at least one that is easy to arrive at.

And sure, transdimensional evilifying ends their background similarities.

But surely you can admit how the two together might seem a bit more than coincidental.

EDIT: Fixed errors.

You, my man, seriously need to get a life. laugh.gif

I'm stuck on the computer doing homework, I took a short break.

It's freezing here anyway, there isn't really anywhere to go.

And yeah, I know. wink.gif

EDIT: Surely, Mr Andy, you realize all of those 'theories' are just jokes?

I am more used to tongue.gif indicating that.

I am somewhat new here.

Yeah, that's a good excuse... whistling.gif

Also, people call me Red. Because of my hat.

That doesn't mean I ripped off someone named Red.

That's funny, because there was a guy in American Idol who said people used to call him Red. Because of his clothes.

Coincidence, homage, or ripoff? Decide which answer suits you best.

"Coincidence" for the story, since TN is a ripoff from Silent Hill; and "ripoff" for the name of the character.

Well, lucky he was tall...otherwise he'd just be "The Man", and that'll really obviously be a ripoff of every male that has ever lived.

I've found out, perhaps, what influenced the appearance of the Tall Man, and it's been nagging me ever since his first appearance in the games.

I KNEW I had seen that character before, the coat, the face, the staff-type weapon.

http://www.planetblo...r/enemies.shtml

Take a look at the Zealots. I'm not saying the Tall Man is rip-off, but without a doubt that was an influence, and considering Yahtzee's penchant for references in his works, not to mention his obvious like of the first Blood, it's not at all impossible, or even improbable.

You're right Militant Pacifist, Siobhan is a pretty common name, even has it's own Wikipedia page. Here in Ireland, you'd definitely know of it, though

Nimdok, I think you've got it there, seed of inspiration. Though I've never played the Blood games before so I don't know how this enemy compares to the Tall Man other then what I can make out from that description and image.

The tall man strikes me as a somewhat chromatically distorted hatless version of the Batman character Anarky in his first incarnation (The one with the false long neck) ...
But that s stretching it a little too far

And an anagram of The Tall Man is "Ah Malt Lent"
Would that be some kind of alternate 40-day period where no-one could eat malt? I wonder if it would fall around the 28th of July?
By the way, I mean no offense to anyone who observes the actual Lent blink.gif

I think I may have spotted another bunch of Influences for the XDAS series.

I've been reading through Doom Patrol and its come to my attention that the character Rebis looks alot like the new prince, being covered from head to foot in bandages and floating everywhere, and the character Red Jack is dressed nearly identically to the tall man, he also mostly lacks a face.

Can anyone dispute this? I'll get some pics up of the charaters soon if you like, but you can always just google it.
