You haven't noticed that it's become "kewl" amongst various "musicians" to wear hats resembling trilbies?

Sadly that is all too true.
I'd like to wear one of those hats, but being a musician I don't want to be associated with any want-to-bes. It's such a shame trilby-like hats have become cool because now it's almost impossible to wear one and retain my self respect. That's probably why I don't wear one.
I like Yahtzee's hat though. biggrin.gif
But that's outside this thread.
So! Has anyone had any more subconscious visitations from XDAN characters?

Enjoyed reading your story and I'll give a shot at helping you. During your sleep you will think about lots of things and you'll mind will make mental images of those things you think about. When you see those images your mind will automatically think about something related to that and it'll make another image of the thing you think about, this means that one scary thought could easily result into a nightmare. This means (obviously) that if you've been playing a scary game intensely and you think about it while sleeping this could result into a nightmare caused by that game. Eventually it's hard to tell if your nightmare is actually caused by a game's scary thought or just some random thought and I highly doubt if people on this forum can answer that question with certainty. The best is not to worry about it alot and think about good things before going to bed (this doesn't always help though).

There's NOTHING to see here people, just move along.

Actually, Yahtzee mentioned that something like that happened when some crazed Christian woman was ranting against the occultism in the game that fucks up the tykes' fragile little minds.

I often find what I last remember thinking before sleep will show up somewhere in a dream. If I remember t once I wake, that is. *sigh* The mind boggles

Actually, it's more common then you'd think. Events that happen during the day often influence your dream. I can't remember what gives you a better chance of remembering, though. I think it's if you wake up slower. Getting woken suddenly I think loses it.
And yes, what you go to sleep thinking about also gets in there.

Yeah, that makes sense. I remember something from Psychology class a few years ago...

There are (apparently and according to whom I don't know) 5 stages of sleep that everyone is able to go through each night.

Stage 1: Pulse and respiration slow slightly, sometimes minutely aware of surroundings. This is what you go into during a microsleep.
Stage 2: A light sleep
Stage 3: Somewhere between a light sleep and a deep sleep... Well. It /is/ called stage 3..
Stage 4: Dreams are experienced towards the end of this very deep sleep, the amount of Stage 4 experienced duringa night's sleep affects how refreshed you might feel when you wake.
Stage 5: Also known as Rapid Eye Movement (REM). This is where you dream. Somebody did research on people sleeping iin a laboratory environment where the subjects were on EEG machines and noticed when people's brainwaves started behaving similarly to when they were awake, their eyes would shift under the lids, they might mumble or move an arm or leg, and the members of males (and the female equivolent) would behave like they were *ahem* stimulated. In some participants.

I don't want to know how they found THAT out! I'm hoping it was only visual observation and asking questions when they woke the person >.<

Anyway, you can go back and forth between these stages. E.g falling asleep, stage1 for 20 minutes, stage 2 for an hour, stage 3 for 2 hours, stage 2 for half an hour, stage 3 for another hour or so, stage 4 for an hour and a half with a few fluctuations back into stage 3, then stage 4 for a minute and then REM. It can go backwards like that till you wake up naturally, but in that research I referenced terribly, if someone was woken during REM they remembered dreaming better then if they were woken in stage 3 or 2 or 1.

I think it's different for everyone though, it's only sample research after all.
