Yes, it is a bit pointless...but then again, it's pointless to say that that Pearl Harbour movei was rubbish after it was made, but that didn't stop anyine.

No, pointing out that Pearl Harbor was a bad movie has a point: letting other people know they are wasting their time if they watch it. There is no such point in debating the semantics of where a body was buried in an independent adventure game.

Which is exactly why I never went to see that movie. Some friend whose judgment I trust told me it was shit, so I said fuck it. Oh, and I hate Ben Affleck, too.

See? Based upon other people's opinions, you can spare yourself some cash and grieving over why you had to go and see that piece of shit.

Wow, that kind of reminds me of Void, the God Hand from Berserk... Except he has his eyes wide open, and Void has a huge brain on his head.

But anyways... cool face. ^^

Oh, I was wondering, what is that weapon he uses? I used to think it was an umbrella, which added to his coolness

Doesn't have face (ok a mask)
Nice coat
plays harpsichord
etc

But it seems its some sort of weird bladed weapon. Is it based on something, or was Yahtzee thinking "You know, it'd be ncie to tie Paris Hilton to a tree, and get a weapon that looks a bit like an umbrella, and stick it...hey! an umbrella looking wepaon, that's a good idea"?

As for who buried him upstairs, who the hell cares?

I am late to the party - but I do!

And I am going to take a huge - no pun intended stab - at the DeFoe Butler.

Sensibly, Jeeves hid himself away during the carnage (if he even knew about it, If he had his own home to go to, he left when Matthew took the paitning downstairs) and waited. He probably tiled up John's corpse in the bathroom, took some things of value to pawn, and got the F out of there.

Good man, that Jeeves, that's what any sensible person would've done.

Um...why would he hide the body? It does sound like an interesting idea, but I don't quite grasp your logic.

Wizard did it.

Actually, I do have an idea on it - but it's a rather shaky one. Based one what I recall the Welder's items belonging to in the kitchen.

Butler, whom we shall call Jeeves, was probably privy to the ongoing abuse on John. What we are sure of is that the Butler, or the Cook and Gardener for that matter, did jack to stop it.

What I am not sure of is it he felt the same kind of hatred Roderick did. Maybe some kind of loathing towards killing off Madame DeFoe?

Suppose we have a classic scenario: The typical mansion help: Jeeves the Butler, Rosa the Cook, and uh, Albert the Gardener - All three probably share the same roof, or, find that they can only trust eachother (barely) in the Manor. I am pretty sure Roderick's abusive nature wasn't just isolated to John. Vengeful drunken types are quick to blame the help: ("You call this Shepard's Pie? Leaping JESUS, I could fart out a better pie!")

Matthew got a fair share of it - but more in the form of 'An Artist? Great. Suppose you'd like some perfume, too?' compared to John's 'Dead Wife + Fist x 15 years + Son = Welder" kind of abuse.

Anyway, July 29th: Rosa, and Albert finish their duties, and have already gone - Jeeves is the last to go. He mentions to Matthew through the door that he is off. Probably lives in a nice little home where Trilby overlooks the flaming wreckage. Kisses the missus, blathers about the day "Roderick won't stfu about those dead animals, MAN is he a LUSH, etc", takes up his nightclothes and off he is to Dreamland.

Next morning, July 30th, Jeeves arrives to find Rosa and Albert sitting in the steps, (Rosa arrives earliest of the three, preparing breakfast, Albert a short time afterwards for general caretaking of the grounds) with Albert's arm around Rosa. Jeeves asks what it is, and both reply: "Dead"

Before this turns into some god-awful fanfic: All three of the servants investigate. Matthew and Roderick's corpses are in the basement, huddled by each other. A trails leads to the upper bathroom where John lies dead, or dying. All three have no idea what to do - call upon the police? And surely be arrested for murder? How else was this done? Who can imagine that an uneducated cretin could do this? or did he?

Here is where the point would stand: If any of them reported it, they would probably be arrested or convicted as accessories. Nevermind that no one can get ahold of the man who was with Roderick in his Trophy room earlier that night.

On top of that - how on earth do you explain John? Roderick's unwanted, unknown son?

The answer: WE don't.

Albert has some experience in renovation: he retiles up the floor with John underneath. Rosa and Jeeves take care of the bodies below. That, too is bricked up - either by Albert or the future owners later, unaware that the previous owners lie in mortim beneath the earth.

Rosa takes whatever good silver and glass is lying about - and leaves. Albert leaves his pickaxe, and takes a trophy head or some little knick-knack from the Master room. Jeeves, in a little bit more respect - sets Matthew's discared painting into the living room. Jeeves may have tipped off the relatives/police/anyone who cares anonymously, citing sudden dissapearance and never returns to the Manor.

All three die knowing.

...That was a bit TL:DR, even for me.

I have an objection to this statement.

We have no evidence as to the presence of a butler. The closest thing to one that we see canonically is the voice telling Matthew his father wants him. Still, is it not more likely that this voice is that of the gardener, since there is evidence that that particular person exists (gardening shed, looking at the mask will tell you the gardener placed it there)?

And as far as John's abuse goes, I think I can say with near-absolute certainty (as a therapist) that John would not have been abused while the servant(s) were around. There is a desperation in an abuser to keep the abuse secret, even (though it is very strange) when he/she believes that it is justified.

Matthew's father also denied the existence of John several times, which would mean that he visited him only when he was alone, and when nobody else could find him out.

It seems to me like an overkill way to explain that little detail. I find it easier to explain all this on the haunted house syndrome. We know that when John DeFoe died his mind was transfered in the DeFoe manor. The doors and windows refusing to open and Trilby's car landing in the manor's backyard on the third day could be all justified by the manor having the ability to manifest its power inside and possibly around the manor. The manor probably just buried the corpse and the next day the servants found the manor deserted and left to find a new employer.

You're not the only one! I rather like Blueskirt's idea of the house encasing John's remains. Seems fitting for the storyline. But I won't lie and say that i have tossed my own theory out of the window entirely (also, it was hella fun to write out so nyah. tongue.gif)

Let the swelling commence.

Hmm, both seem reasonable...though for the second, I'd imagine the house being actively obstructive to Trilby more than it was.

Well, I was playing Blood 2 the other day, and on one of the later levels I encountered an enemy that held a striking resemblance to The Tall Man. It didn't help the fact that the level in question was an abandoned hotel... with sickly yellowed walls, etc. I sat there thinking "Wow, this is what a TN FPS would look like!"

Weird coincidence to say the least.
