Woo, I remember when this thread was active like 2 years ago and I posted in it all the time! Now I get to post in it again, hurrah! biggrin.gif

My problem with this approach was that a few questions are left unanswered.

The thing is, you're looking too far into this. The deal was (as far as I could tell) that Chzo just wanted his own little perfect lackey to boss around; one who would follow his every request and do things that Chzo was unable to do.

QUOTE
(But if you answer the first question, explaining why chzo would need a new prince, then potentially you could answer this by explaining that chzo knew the druid wasn't the perfect prince and set up this whole system merely as a means of getting someone else)

That was it exactly. He lied to EVERYONE because his only goal was to make the New Prince.

QUOTE
Lastly, I'm not sure if the new prince is so much better than the old prince.

He was. The deal with Cabadath was that he never actually died, and as such he kept some of his... humanness. For example, throughout all the games, he's trying to make sure he doesn't get replaced. If he were a perfect lackey, he would do whatever Chzo wanted regardless, instead of going behind his lord's back to save his own ass. The New Prince was, more or less, something that Chzo created with none of his humanity left. Theo DeCabe (and John Defoe) were both completely dead before the New Prince was created. Does that make sense?

tl;dr, Chzo wanted a perfect lackey and screwed everyone over to get him.

Maybe we're thinking too much within the constraints. What happens after 7DAS apart from Somerset commiting suicide?

Maybe the New Prince was for then. Or maybe there are things other then pain elementals in the ethereal world and Chzo needed a loyal powerful warrior who wouldn't try to escape or rebel.

I'd put my money on this one. It is mentioned in TN that there were other large entities of pain but Chzo took them all in. But perhaps there are other entities of different sorts? I'd assume that they'd pose at least a potential threat to him... and an "arrogant" prince won't cut it for defending him.

If I recall correctly, the Tall Man has lost face (no pun intended) when he made DeFoe the bridge instead of having the dubious privilege of becoming the bridge himself. And since Chzo had known this from the beginning, he planned this whole scam ahead.

The problem I have with it is; was the New Prince made just to punish the Tall Man or was it that he needed a better Prince?

Also, I want to know what the New Prince can do other then shoot lasers just so someone can make a fight between Tall Man and New Prince.

Well, it's a bit vague...especially since the series ends there, with not all that much decided.

I never thought of that. Did he meet the requirements for being the Bridge, though? His body was likely destroyed when Chzo first took him, his soul was obviously destroyed along with the idol... but what about his mind? We know DeFoe's mind was left in the ruins of his home... where would Cabadath's be?

Fairly certain it's a mixture of both. Cabadath seems pretty insolent during 6DAS and Chzo's not getting as much pain out of him as he used to, seeing as the tree's been cut up just about as much as it could be. I think Chzo both wants to punish him for for his arrogance (hence him being labeled as "Arrogant Man" right before Theo pushes him down) as well as find a fresh prince (ha) to both defend him ("protect him always") and wring some more pain out of him.

He never died, therefore his aspects, however warped they may have been, never left him.

I think he was supposed to sacrifice himself but went to find a poor sucker (ie. John Defoe) instead.

Whatever happened to that game featuring Trilby and the Tall Man and various other random game characters?
