Previously, he was confined to areas under Chzo's power, namely the alternate dimension within the hotel (and around the stump's general area, taking the lumberjack scene into account) during 7/28.

I'm telling you, someday they will ask for psychiatric reports before allowing anyone to enter these forums.

And the only people they'll let in will be the criminally insane.
Doesn't that already happen?

Everytime you enountered the Tall Man in a flashback or came into a hallucination where interacting wasn't allowed, the words "it hurts" came as response for everything you typed. Like the one were you suddenly are in the cellar of the DeFoe mansion and John comes walking at you.
That was pretty startling, because that's the same thing your read in the diary of the crippled corpse at the foot of the staircase.
Also, there was a hallucination, that when you entered a new room, and entered something, all of sudden "it hurts" came as an answer, for no appearent reason. If you typed something again, all that came was "it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts"
That was EXTREMLY startling, because "it hurts" usually only came in connection with John or the Tall Man, which constantly made you think something is gonna jump right at you.

The corpse at the foot of the staircase: That was a person from the magickal world, right? Who'd stumbled into the hotel, along with his girlfriend or whatever, who died, and then her body parts turned into mannequin parts in the technology world? Or what? I cannot remember, and now I'm curious.
The "it hurts" stuff was really interesting, because it took something seemingly minor (somebody dying in pain, probably really woozy from lack of blood, writing "it hurts" as their last words) and reuses it, to great effect.

Also, thinking about something that has probably been mentioned before, but regardless: A recurring element in the games is something that I feel is really effective in horror, a blurring of "safe" and "not safe". The manor in 5DaS is well-lit most of the time, and safe... except when it isn't. The same is true of the ship in 7DaS. Much of the fear in TN comes from the fact that at any point, the world can shift, and the Tall Man can show up. Some of the scarier parts in 6DaS came when something was disoriented: When the complex turned into the dungeon, for instance, or the kitchen turned into the manor kitchen, or you arrived in the Manor with the strange distortion (and even when the Manor was more stable, it was not the same as in 5DaS).
If I could remember more, I'd link this to the stories of Lovecraft that creeped me out (confession: A lot of Lovecraft's stuff I just find a little laughable and overwritten, but some are really quite chilling).
Along with simply scary stuff, a lot of added mileage is gotten from things that are unsettling, like the way that it can't ever be sure that a situation is safe, and things that sometimes feel like they should be safe aren't. The Manor in 5DaS definitely doesn't seem like your stereotypical haunted house: It's not a rotting, cobwebbed old pile. That it's still a pretty nice place makes it, at least for me, scarier when bad things happen in it.

Why am I reminded of them when I watch the ending to 6Days?

Because they don't talk, and neither do either of the Princes? :

I played through all the SE games yesterday, and I'm still a bit confused. But in a good way, I suppose.
Just read through the whole Spoiler Topic. There's a one in a million chance you will understand the game. Otherwise, you'll just be more confused.

Okay, I've beenskimming over this thread, and there's something that confuses me.
There's continuous references to something called "Countdown" that seems to be related to the XDAS series, but I can't find anything of that name on Yahtzee's games page.

It's on the bottom of the 6 Days page. Next question!
