I liked how the barrel of gasoline was there during the entire construction of the facility, and was never used or removed, since whenever part 2 happened. Also, anyone try beating it on yahtzee's birthday yet?

I thought it was a very cool game. Maybe it didn't answer all the questions, but it was a good play. I think someone asked if TNP is Theo or John DeFoe. I think that they combined; Theo was wearing the Welder's stuff when Chzo gave him the Prince's energy, and when he came back, he was covered in Theo's bandages, but he had the Welder's mask.

I'm not really sure if the "Last Trilby" was the original. Some people wanted to nkow how he survived 200 years. Well, he didn't. But he was in Chzo, which is a timeless place.

Anyway, thanks, Yahtzee. But it'd be cool if YOU could give us a short (i.e. 5 or 6 page) plot summary? Thanks.

If you read the note found on the computer in the lab room, it implies that Trilby died of old age, but the Prince was able to take a blood sample from him before that.

It said that "Obviously, he could not do that [create the bridge] IF he was long since dead of old age." (emphasis mine) As far as I can tell, it was the cult just saying that they knew Trilby would die eventually, perhaps of old age. Honestly, though, I do hope he died of old age. I really do.

Ha ha no. Ambiguity fosters debate. And I want people to discuss my story and think about it so it remains virally in their subconscious like a fat warty toad.

Besides, I'm saving some truths for the special edition commentary. Also, a "short" 5-6 pages?! If that's how you classify "short" you must live in giant land from Mario 3.
As I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, I realised that it could do with a lick of paint.

Hey I was playing 7 Days a Skeptic again and I noticed in the intro when the guy logs into the computer the name used is Malcolm, as in Malcolm Somerset. Was this whole story about Chzo and all that planned ever since 5 Days A Stranger?

Long time lurker, first time poster. My first (and so far, only) mistake is making my presence known.

I'm pretty sure the cloned Trilbies (which seems to be the canonical spelling of the plural "Trilby") were able to be created because of the REAL Trilby's blood being acquired by the Tall Man in Trilby's Notes. You may recall... "We have the blood of the Guide."

llamaman... didn't the final Trilby clone use the barrel of petrol to set the Mind of John DeFoe aflame? I'm pretty sure that the Caretaker told him to use it, but since I only played through the game once, I may need to check on that.

I also think it's fairly obvious the Trilby that was killed by Somerset/Caretaker was the final clone, because as far as we know the real Trilby never crossed over fully into the Magick realm... but you can plainly see the clone there at the end.

I agree with Blueskirt, I think that Chzo's plan was to create an endless cycle of agony. Since the Caretaker was basically an infinite loop, he had to perpetuate the constant pain in order to exist.

Personally, I am not sure about the whole "this Prince is better than the other Prince" stuff. The way I saw it, Cabadath had served his purpose in the eye (heh) of Chzo and was simply discarded for the tool that he was. Since the New Prince was the reason Somerset/Caretaker could not simply walk back the way he came, he was forced to continue the cycle by plummeting down the pit, and therefore Cabadath had to be replaced -- or the cycle may not have continued... very cyclical, that.

Of course, since I'm not Yahtzee, I have absolutely no proof that any of this is correct. It's just my best guess. Hello to all of you.

My friend just pointed out something to me.

That fake religion? Is it a play on Scientology? It sounds like it o_o

Anyways, great game, though I'd have to say it's not the best in the series.

Almost certainly, asides from the similar name Optimology is mentioned as being a money making front as well as being popular with celebrities. Maybe that means a lawsuit is coming tongue.gif

There was a number on one of the walls.. 287 I think it was, and I thought I saw that same number in the alternative realm in Trilby's notes. What is the significance of this?

28/07 Is the date every year that the barrier between the two worlds is weakest and Chzo looks upon the worl od technology.

That was sort of paraphrased from Lenkmann's speech at the end of Notes.

*dances*

I totally picked the timeline of this =D I remember noting how it went 5, 7, 6, so it went back from 7DAS.

Though I also said this game wouldn't leave closure because of it's timeline. Gotta love time paradoxes for solving issues like that happy.gif

Yeah, that made me laugh. It's not entirely clear when the majority of Countdown Part 2 takes place, since the January date is given during the dream sequence at the beginning, but it's certainly been just... sitting down there. Next to the room that (used to) hold the Order's Big Treasure. Maybe gas is really really expensive in 2189, so the Order was hoarding it.

Oh, and, another random question to throw into the mix - Does anyone have any idea what Malcolm's visions as he descends into Chzo mean? I assume he's already dead or dying by this point (assuming that inserting Frehorn's Blade into the door of flesh was actually him inserting it into himself), but why does he live through DeFoe's murders of his crewmates (besides, possibly, Yahtzee thinking it funny to trick the player into thinking they're looking at DeFoe's destruction, when it's actually the Captain's death in reverse)? And is there any significance to the red robes/bald head? The red might be his blood spreading over his body from the self-inflicted wounds, but why bald?

Why Chzo replaced the Tall Man? Hmmm.... the best guess I've come up with is that Chzo wanted a servant who's soul wouldn't be fragged by Somerset in a measely 200 years.

I'd wondered if Theodore Dacabe's name was a hint, but it's not spelled quite right.

I wouldn't read too much into the balding process. I've heard of people losing their hair when they have great traumas, but this is a literal interpretation, mind you. However, the visions definitely have a deep meaning: DeFoe looks at every human being the same way, as if they all were his father tormenting him. Now, Somerset has this great fear from the Welder, and everything he considers evil take this form. I believe that in these visions, Somerset's and DeFoe's minds became one in a way.
Anyone else thought that Somerset would look like a Krishna priest if his robe were orange, and not blood red?

EDIT: This forum needs post alarms that tell me when people reply to a post I'm replying to. yell.gif

Nope.

So many subjects and theories discussed at the same time, I can't wait until the wow effect is off and we start going thoroughly into every points of the game.

Theodore Dacabe=>
CabadEth... ode ore? doe roe? I'm a bit shaky on the leftover letters, but he was pointing out that the name cabadath is almost anagrammed into his name.

Which if he's supposed to be a reincarnation, or somesuch, that raises further questions.
