Heccubus, usually I can relate with you, and when you post your opinions, I nod my head in agreement.

But this is retarded.

Kurt Cobain wasn't a hero, or a good role model.

He was a Heroin addict. A junkie.

His music may have started grunge rock, but it wasn't the best grunge had to offer.

He shot himself in the brains with a shotgun.


Anyone who is stupid enough to take their own life, let alone date courtney love, needs to be gone.


You didn't KNOW Kurt. you have no personal connection with the guy. Stop crying over his death.

Okay, and thus follows a rebuttal. No one said I was crying over his death. And I did point out in the short bit that I have never much cared for his drug use, I don't know where you got the idea that I did. I don't care if he wasn't murdered, it wouldn't change my view on the situation one fucking bit, people who commit suicide aren't stupid. Anyone who treats suicide victims in this manner deserves to be gone, not the people who are gone. I never put across the idea that I knew Kurt, I specifically state that his death was:

the first time in my life that I felt truly, deeply saddened by the death of someone I didn't know.

By the by, if someone you knew had a problem with heroin use, would you be so quick to toss them off as a worthless junkie? I personally do not give a fuck whether or not you agree with me, but there are better ways to state disagreement than deliberately, and ignorantly--since you obviously did not actually read anything that I said--pay no regard for another human being's emotions. I would appreciate a little bit of fucking respect for my emotions, no matter how irrational they may seem to you (since you obviously have it all figured out).

Alright. I apologize for my words here.

But I had to vent after 4 people were crying today around campus, and me, being the nice guy I am, asked what was wrong, they replied it was the anniversary of "Kurt's Death".

Like they knew him.

I was sad when Brandon Lee died. The only celebrity death that has ever affected me. I was just really disappointed that this young guy had to die in such a stupid way. Not to mention that I had a soft spot for RAPIDFIRE and was hoping he'd make more cheesy homage films in the action genre.

As for Kurt, I saw one of his last concerts and it was fun. But he didn't touch my life or anything, and I was a fan. I liked his gravelly voice, screeching out his little nonsense songs. "All Apologies" belongs in the soundtrack of my life.

Well, I know of one local regrettable mistake on that day, but why 9/18, Reader?

9/18 = Hendrix . He's ONE person who died REALLY before his time... he was still capable of great things.
Also i must mention December 4, 93: Frank Zappa. Sure he was 53... but he was thinking of running for president (in my uninformed opinion, he would have been fantastic... very well informed, non partisan, no special interest shit bringing him down, rattling all the right cages in congress... the only thing i'm skeptical about is how he would handle foreign relations... he has experience, but how would he handle the Middle East Crisis? blah blah) PLUS he was also finally getting recognition for his scores and was having them performed RIGHT for the first time and showed no signs of slowing down in that area.

I'm as sad about Kurts death as anyone... EXCEPT the bloody music press.. assaulting us all from every angle with various 'grunge' sections and 'why he still matters' bullshit. He's great and important for his time, i agree, but music (obviously not mainstream) has gone through so much metamorphosis that it's IMPOSSIBLE to trace it back to Kurt and Nirvana. I hate to say it, but he wasn't THAT important! His music was pure and true, and Nevermind did some remarkable stuff in the early 90's, but he doesn't hold a candle to a great many of songwriters before him. He's just a recogizable name that you can exploit to sell your lousy product (yea, media 101 with the wrong teacher... real boring stuff). Anyway, it's established that i am a fan of Nirvana, so what i'm saying has a bit more validity, i hope, than a classic Nirvana-hating person. Even Kurt would vomit from all this mythologizing the press etc is doing... shameless shit. If you're feeling nostalgic, throw in any album (except Nevermind), but don't mark down the days until it's his anniversary and then erupt with all sorts of useless subject-matter-padding. And the fans, same to 99% of you.

There's nothing wrong with Nevermind. I have yet to understand why Nirvana "fans" just toss it off because they got popular with its release. The brilliance of some of the songs far outshines much of their other material.
