It still could've work, and Luke is not sure ANYWAY in ROTJ. In fact, whydidhe need to ask Yoda if Vader was his father, he "knew?"
Then making Darth Vader Anakin's "friend" still could work. Vader could see Anakin being zapped by Palpatine and still think of his friend and then try to do the right thing by saving his friend's child....
Battle for the Galaxy--read the "other Star Wars"
All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

"I also felt Obi Wan came to a point in Revenge of the Sith where he started thinking of Anakin and Vader as two seperate beings who just happened to look like each other."
interesting you should say that... as the original vision did not have Anakin and Vader as the one person, and that Obi-Wan in Star Wars wasn't lying, just telling what he knew. There was some conjecture that Darth Vader was Anakin's clone, and another thing that the lava confrontation (which was part of the original vision stuff) was Obi-Wan and Anakin being attacked by Vader, ending with Anakin and Vader both being exposed to lava with Anakin dying and Vader being mortally singed.

Probably already touched on, but...
Regarding Commlinks: Why the 'f can't they make silent ones? I mean, in Episode IV, C3PO actually turns it off, and sets it down on the counter, fearing for his droid life (why didn't he take it with him?). Meanwhile, his master and company are about to be smashed by a trash compactor. And why would he forget that he turned it off? Why would a droid has a failed memory? I'd get that checked out.
Now, in Episode III, Obi-Wan throws this huge remote control-looking thing that seems to be louder than a PA system to artoo. First of all, why would Obi-Wan be carrying that around with him in the first place (seems they have a little magic bag of stuff like water breathing aparatus, commlinks, etc), but at any rate, back to my whole point- look what happened in this scene... Why would a droid, which is a machine, have the need to hear it audibly rather than a direct silent link? If the link was internal, R2 would have received the message instantly and would have not alerted the Super Battle Droids, and would have re-activated the elevator instead of having to hide, stifle the commlink by shoving it inside himself, and then fend off the SBDroids before he could tend to his business.
Seems to me that if they have the technology to handle interstellar travel, they should've been able to establish a silent commlink internal to a droid. Not to mention giving that droid a voice so he can respond in a language that people could understand rather than beeps and whistles.
Ok, off my soapbox for now.

chefelf- I only recommend that you try more to also critique each movie relative to its position in the 6-part saga. For instance: By introducing Jaba the Hut in EP I and IV you are inadvertantly detracting from the uniqueness of EP VI in that that was the only episode where jabba is seen and therefore the mentioning jabba carries more fear and mystery up to EP VI. Also, since EP VI is probably the worst of the OT, it needs all the unique characteristics it can possibly get to allow it to stand out on its own.

And, from "'Dark_Sith, welcome to the forums. Should you decide to mention anything specific about what "sucks" I would love to hear it.'

1) I would never pose as somoene who hates the PT but likes the OT.
2) I could write a huge essay countering most of ChefElf's points, but I wouldn't waste my time doing that, since it's all bull shit anyway.
