"Eldawoody, assuming the role of a co-conspirator, assured Siraj that any plan he concocted would have the backing of a fictitious faction called The Brotherhood."
Aside from the obvious scent of 1984 lingering in the air this case just plain stinks. An older man finds an impressionable 22 year old, shows him photos of US forces torturing Iraqis, tells him its ok to kill Americans and that an islamic organization will back him up, and then somehow this is a crime on Siraj's part?
The US is so hungry for so-called terrorists to scape goat that they'll go out of their way to create terrorists when there are none. Just today in Florida a few Muslim men were detained on suspicioin of terrorism because a guard couldnt understand what they were saying.

And nice to see another fine American tradition being carried on. I mean, heaven forbid there might be some real crime going on that can be stopped. They need more terrorists to imprison, damnit!

Civ: "Terrorists" have no rights; haven't you learned that by now? Entrapment, denial of due process, it's ok, because they're "enemy combatants" or whatever euphemism we're using these days.

Yeah I don't think it works that way exactly... Besides didn't you ever see those commercials after 9 11? "Drugs support terrorism. If you buy drugs you might too"
Anyhow I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this prosecution as barely legal. I mean to be honest I might have ended up doing the same thing if Obrien... I'm sorry, Eldawoody had come a-knockin, though I probably wouldn't have chosen a subway tunnel.

I really hope the judge throws out the trial for entrapment, or the jury is intelligent enough to recognize that sort of coerced bullshit and the illegality of it, if the judge wants to help fill our prisons with more of the misguided.

Edit: Do I sound like I disapprove of the American law system? Yes? Well, good.
