The first time might have been the occasion when Trilby "robbed" the cult by preventing Lenkmann's ritual from taking place. I was just thinking too literally earlier.

I haven't had a clue about what's this talk about the other games (I obviously didn't pay enough attention), but finally something I do know!

QUOTE
Hmm, what does this mean: "The Order of Blessed Agonies, robbed for the second time, bitterly continue their construction." What does Yahtzee refer to as the first time?

The first time they were robbed is in Part 2, nothing to do with Trilby. It's when you take the blade and give it to the jerk. The second time they are robbed is upon your death. This is a cult based on the pain and... well... "Blessed Agonies", 'nuff said.

Obviously, they'll take a lot of pleasure - a lot - in torturing you for taking their artifact. Hence, they have been robbed of some joyous pleasure. Noting, of course, that this "second time" is mentioned after you wrap a car around a tree and kill yourself.

They were robbed of the blade, and the intense pleasure of making you pay for what you took.

Or at least, my understanding of it. Seems logical.

- Who is the red robe guy?
- Why did he want the blade?
- How can he disappear?
- Why can he duplicate the blade?
- What's that blade for, anyway?
- What's that barrel for, anyway?
- Why are there cars in the future? Can't they just teleport or something?

- Little Red Ridinghood on testosteron.
- Some people like to shave every now and then.
- He can't. The people who supposedly saw him disappear were all suffering from ADD.
- He might be a wandering blacksmith for all I know.
- Shaving?
- Barelling? No wait, that doesn't make any sense, does it?
- Who says it's the far future?

I can't believe I wandered around that bloody complex for fifteen minutes in the mistaken belief that Yahtzee made a bigger game this time!! Stupid locked doors and groany noises.

And I wonder how a double-breasted suit or waistcoat comes to be recognised as "turn of the millenium garb".

Find Freehorn's Blade. Put the knife on the pedestal. Take the blade. Et voilá.

I think after you killed your boyfriend, joined a cult of doubtable charity, stole one of their beloved artifacts from the kitchen and another old blade from the museum, gave it to their enemy and ran away without even saying goodbye to any of them, you don't worry too much about things like:
"Oh right, that's not even my own car. Guess I'll have to wait for the bus then. whistling.gif"

Edit: I think I should clarify that I do not have any experience in that field. My boyfriend's still doing just fine, thank you.

The very first line of text in the game gives the date. The year is 2189.
As I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, I realised that it could do with a lick of paint.

I knew that switching between reading text adventures and several scripts on economical optimization problems would eventually do a number on my brain... wacko.gif

Eh, I think the whole point of stealing the car was to kill herself, so as to avoid the punishment the cult would unleash.

You missed that, Gobbler? I thought you were saying it's not as far forward as 7DAS.

Oooh! Oooh! Oooooohhh! I just realised something. The initiation involves shooting someone close to you, right? Exactly like Frehorn did!

I have a sickly feeling that 6DAS does not resolve this issue, but rather fills a gap. Why do I say this? Two reasons.

Firstly, and most obviously, the numbering. It started with 5DAS. Then there was 7DAS. Chronologically, they were in that order. Now, logically, if there was a 6DAS, it will fall between 5 and 7 - so perhaps this merely fills the rather large gap between 5DAS and 7DAS; that is, large in terms of time. Of course, 7DAS pretty well explains what happens in that time, but then I look at this recent Countdown series.

It starts with Yesterday. The past. Relate this to the DAS games, and it would be, arguably, 5DAS. The second game Yahtzee released was obviously the one which features the quote mentioning Tomorrow. This would be 7DAS, as both are set in the future and both are the second of three games - ignoring TN, that is. It stands to reason the third Countdown game will feature a quote using the word Today. And 6DAS? Also the third game. Does it fill the gap? We'll find out.

I got bored at work.

Gah. Where's the kitchen knife? I can't even find the kitchen.

EDIT: Never mind.
