I won't be posting the next few days, so I'll say Merry Christmas now. If you aren't a Christian, I'll still say Merry Christmas; it's not my job to keep track of your holidays any more than its your job to keep track of mine, so I'll mind my own business and wish you a merry Christmas. And since Christmas Eve is on a Sunday this year, I've got two Masses to serve tomorrow instead of one. Whoohoo.

Of course, I'll be just PC enough to loop around in twelve or so days to hit up Epiphany for you Orthodox out there. It's good being a Christian Arab, you get two Christmases...

Some people have a merrily Christ Mass of Presents.
Whilst I would hate to say Merry Starve Mass to the people in starving countries.

This year I am not as guilty because I asked not to be given anything I don't need or nothing at all.

Does it seem true that the thirteenth disciple's temptation of collecting money grew into crazy advertising and shops at Christmas? I look around and I even fell for it once. Afterwards sales always slump so I should never shop before and less of disguised rip off blackmarket stuff around.

While I'm not so easily amused by Christmas thingyness anymore, I do enjoy the oppertunity to escape the long days of doing nothing at uni, to spend time doing nothing with the family. That, and the foods damn good. So, in conclusion, Merry Christmas, eat well, get stuff you actually want, and make sure not to get too pissed in front of the extended family!

And a Surveillance

To those who are being watched this Christmas.
I read the British are good at that for installing surveillance mostly everywhere.

Merry Christmas to everyone here!

I gave some money to some bums. I saw that it made them happy. I feel happy about that.

I just had the first of probably four Christmas dinners, at the house of a friend whose wife is Polish. Her father was over with his girlfriend. We had turkey, stuffing, potatoes, perogies, bigos, stuffed cabbage, the whole Polish-Canadian thing. Yum yum yum. Then I drank rum and eggnog and chatted while listening to Polish Christmas songs. We exchanged little gag gifts and then I traveled around town dropping off stuff with friends and stopping for brief chats and cups of tea. I love the whole home-visiting rituals of Christmas; we get so locked into our jobs and home lives we often don't see our friends enough.

I have quality smoked ham on bone. A bit of that with cheeses, jackpet potato and sweet wine last night and today I some smoked salmon to go with it.

I didn't put up a tree but I got an edible one as a present. I'll post it in the image galleries.

Because I've been watching it and feel like being annoying like this - Happy Hogswatch! tongue.gif

I've noticed getting older I receive a significantly smaller amount of presents every year, but oh do they get sweeter and sweeter. The sweetest of them being my very own wacom tablet! HOORAY! And an awesome shiny blue and silver pocket watch, and a DVD of Casanova (starring David Tennant and not Heath Ledger. DavidTennant!LOVE!)

My needs for shininess, usefulness, and fangirly-ness have all been fulfilled. And there's still great juicy slabs of ham to ingest. All in all, a very good day so far. laugh.gif

Now it's just a matter of playing the waiting game for someone to put up a torrent of the new Doctor Who Christmas special.

(*waits not-so-patiently*)

Check out my crappy drawings!
