Yeah, but I'm pretty sure it said there wasn't an entity like that in the game.

We're whalers on the moon
We carry a harpoon
But there ain't no whales so we tell tall tales
And sing a whaling tune

That was the thing I didn't like about 6DAS. I don't know why, but it seems to be a general rule that you can have as much crazy, unbelievably ridiculous shit as you want in a story, but as soon as you introduce time travel, any suspension of disbelief suddenly goes out the window.

Now that you mention it, yeah...funny that.

First post here.

Just got acquainted with the awesomeness that is the works of Yathzee a few days ago and have severely wrecked my sleep pattern watching reviews and playing the XDAS and 1213 games. Awesome, simply awesome.

I was slightly disappointed at the final installment of the XDAS series though. It was a good game, mind you, but somehow I just felt that it didn't live up the the previous ones. It's hard to put my finger on why, exactly, I suppose it might have something to do with what I perceived to be a somewhat messy and confusing ending. Then again, it was 6 in the morning when I finished it, maybe I should give the series another run one of these days, I was rather expecting a more 'classical' ending, for better or for worse, and suddenly it seemed I had stumbled into a sci-fi/Cthulhu remake of Soulreaver. Oh well, a very good game in any case, although the first was definitely the best in my opinion.

Anyway, here there be spoilers, sort of:

One thing that bugged me, and I realise Yathzee has already given an explanation for this but all the same: Who is it that answers the phone on day 3? Considering how many other things that have been taken into account in the story and how well the storylines mesh, it seems odd that there is no explanation for this at all, seeing as that phonecall is an important part in the process of The Grand Scheme. I'm thinking maybe it could be Malcolm McSpacyredrobe, or even Chzo itself, although that seems a bit far-fetched I suppose.

In any case, brilliant stories, nice work and all those congratulary remarks

I am pretty sure that my retarded little sister 'can't play' either...

But I have no idea what your issue is, fiddle around with the setup a bit I suppose and see if it helps

The problem is not the setup, I've played all of the earlier games,
and none of they are working anymore.
I've recently installed windows professional, do i have to use some kind of driver or something?

Sounds like your computer has a problem with the AGS engine, not this particular game. Have you tried changing the resolution and the full-screen/window setting yet in the winsetup.exe file?
If nothing works, try asking for help in this forum, they're the ones responsible for AGS.

Directx 9.0c for AGS. Can't help it, this just sounds hilarious.

I did enjoy the game quite a lot, specially because it finally explained some things, but the sad part is - it leaves a whole new bunch of questions unanswered.

A few things I didn't like was the already mentioned sex scene ("Wow, we're both going crazy, reality is cracking and there's a horrible unstoppable monster right outside the door. Let's have sex!". It's like a damned Jason film or something!) and the whole time traveling part.

I liked the new Prince too. To be honest, I think I prefer his mummy-ish looks over those of the Tall Man.

Also, it's inevitable that people will make connections to other works. Let's not forget that nowadays, nothing can really be considered "original", because someone surely has thought about it before. So best thing is to just don't think about it and enjoy it.

(and yay, first post)

And the film should be shot in sepia, because real life was in sepia in the 1990s.

---------SPOILERS!-----------

I think I'm stuck, and it looks more like a bug to me. I'm in Day 5, in the cell. The guy in red robes makes his speech, the parcel appears, I open the parcel and find the awesome knife-key. But if I try to use the knife-key on the door, Malcolm says "I don't think so."

---------SPOILERS!-----------

How do I get past this? sad.gif
