I don't know if anybody's noticed that I haven't been around much lately, but if you had been wondering, it's due to this game. I'm getting right into it at the moment. I'm an Aasimir paladin, nearing the end of the second chapter. So far the plot's been quite good, and the characters are excellent. Ravensoft have borrowed a lot of elements from KotOR 2, such as the party system and npc influence. The graphics are brilliant, and the character building system has a lot of choices. So far, thumbs up.

I didn't know it was out and haven't played the first one yet. How hefty a compy do you need for it?

Give me a few days and I'll be able to play it... I was kinda disappointed by Neverwinter Nights so far, let's see whether they've improved.

I didn't like the first part either, with all that repetitive Diablo-like monster killing and its shallow plot. All I liked was the character creation and development part, that was quite interesting, but not enough to compel me to finish the whole thing. Hopefully the sequel's better, but with these system requirements, I probably won't play it for a couple of years.

The character creation aspect is mostly the same as the first game with expansions. They've added in subraces, and a couple of new prestige classes, and a new feat here and there. But pretty much the same. The plot and characters are much better done this time around though.

It's simply not possible for D&D rules to = Diablo, even if you click to kill things. *is confuzzled*

I've been trying out the new one, and whilst it is fun, even with a decent system, it runs craptacularly slowly. I can run HL2 with five times the graphics as this game, and this doesn't really put out much in that field. Gar.

I think I'll be able to answer that after Christmas - the game in right now in the passage from UK to my house - as usual, I had to buy the English version from abroad.

Anyway, if the game is as good as Oblivion, then I'll be as lost as Sime is.
But I wish my absence could be contributed to devotion to video games rathern than work sad.gif

See you all around some time, I haven't forgotten you!

I don't think it's as good as Oblivion, but it is fun. I'm still having a hard time getting past the terribly coded graphics which lead to spectacular slowdown even when nothing remotely graphically pleasing is going on. Maybe there's something wrong with it, like I need a patch or something... I dunno. The terrible framerate despite pitiful graphics kills my pleasure at playing it a bit, that's all.

It's good to see that you're still around, Ms. Corvax!

I didn't have any problems with slowdown, but then again I'm running a new computer here.

Better then Oblivion? I'd say different. I had a few issues with Oblivion, personally I think Morrowind is better then Oblivion. But that's for another forum, if anybody wants to hear more of my opinions on that.

Oblivion is so much better than Morrowind. tongue.gif And Morrowind is so much better than Neverwinter Nights. Neverwinter Nights 2 is a tad better than Neverwinter Nights, but still far behind Morrwind, in my humble opinion.

Played for a couple of hours now, and it seems like it's very good at repeating Neverwinter Nights' bad points. And SHEEESH, who the fuck is even paying those GUI-designers at BioWare? It's like they only had crippled customers in mind, when they decided on their target group.

I concur with Gobbler here. NWN just has the word 'linearity' all over it, no matter how much they try to bullshit you about role-playing, different dialogue options and class-related quests. It's just the usual go-there-kill-him-bring-his-head-to-me missions over and over again. Morrowind had a lot of freedom, good story and almost no linearity at all, but the fact that all NPCs of the respective races looked and sounded alike was major letdown for me. I can just get Oblivion to run but it quits every 25 minutes or so due to memory issues which is constantly pissing me off big time. crying.gif
