Oh man, so that's why I dislike them so much, because I actually like them!
What a pathetic lie.

i watch all movies objectivley. it's just that three stray further from the 'quality' compound. you can't help but notice.

You mean five stray further from "quality compound" (ESB).

I'm actually surprised to hear that so many people like the PT. I was under the impression that it was generally hated by all people across all forums.

I assume it is the younger generation of fans who like the PT better.

Nah. I'm a younger generation, and mostly when I watch the movies, I wonder where the theater seats and wise-cracking robots are to obscure the lower portion of the film.

I think civ2 put it quite well. I mean, TheForce.net has a purpose and that purpose is not necessarily to have people chiming in and bashing. I don't even consider myself a 'basher' as it's not really that constructive. Sure, I dislike the PT but I had a good laugh about it and that's that.

The main point is that people who join a forum just to stir things up are really annoying. If the purpose of a forum is to talk about great recipes for beef and pork (as a lame example) and it gets an influx of vegetarians chiming in to say that meat eating is evil and wrong, then that's really disruptivce to the community. Of course the opposite would be true of a meat eater posting on a vegetarian forum about how they're all insane for not eating meat.

The point is that these people (trolls) are disruptive and inconsiderate. If a community at large has a different viewpoint then yours then avoid it. You aren't going to convince atheists to believe in God, religious communities to become atheists, KKK members to open their mind to other cultures or PT haters to love the movies. I think engaging in healthy debate can be fun but the whole, "You're a moron, this rules/sucks!" approach doesn't get anyone anywhere.

I didn't write my lists to convince anyone. I wrote them to get the whole thing out of my system. If people enjoy them, great. If they hate them, fine. But many people forget that you can poke fun at things you love. I'm still a fan, regardless of what people think.

I think that site tends to annoy some people because they're expecting it to be a normal Star Wars forum. I mean, when I joined, I didn't know anything about them. So when I made the one negative PT comment and got perma-banned, it really caught me off guard. Especially since I thought every Star Wars fan hated those movies.

But, as you guys said, it's their forum. I help run a forum, and you can usually sense which posters are going to make trouble for you. If they want to discuss the movie's good points and think of ways to justify the plot holes, that's fine with me. At least it keeps them out of the forums I read.

Yeah, but then again, you recall the Bob Dylan-thread you launched? When all those Dylan-fans came here to argue that he's God, and we're all jealous cockfags? Well, the main difference between this forum and that one is that here, one does not get banned if they express a different opinion, even when they do it in such hillbilly-style. They might be argued with, but that's exactly what a forum is about. Now, the mods of this forced-dot-net shit seem to ban absolutely everyone who doesn't conform to their views and ideas.
