Fanart from newcomer me for anyone wishing to look. Click here for.

His pinstripes turned out less pin and more stripe, creating a rather odd effect... and his facial expression, methinks, is a little... off... but I'm still pretty pleased with it.

BTW, san, your art is the greatest thing in history. I've been staring at it for three days straight now.

And, setasoujirou, your "inside having a party" piece made me fall over laughing.

Whoa!

Theres a bit of an anatomy problem with the face (he looks kinda female) but the DETAILS are so awesome that I don't care. What'd you do this with, pencil or pen?

The shading, the words, and the stripes. Wow. You have got patience. I can tell you put a lot of care into this. It's great.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! It's pencil, of the mechanical variety. What's sad about the words is that I went through all the games and stuff finding good quotes to use for my background, but then by the time I was done they'd become illegible XD I can only hope you can feel the spirit of awesome emanating from them, since you can't read them. Then, perhaps he does look a bit femmy. Though I highly doubt "pretty boy" is what Yahtzee had in mind for the character, it doesn't really bother me much.

I dunno, this happy.gif expression is so irreconcilable with Trilby's face that it makes me think the universe is going to collapse.
Also, I think the lines in the background are very strong, so strong in fact that they appear to be in front of him instead of behind him. Speaking of the background, doodles aren't scary. Cryptic messages from people's subconscious minds are scary, although they're hard to come up with.

Meh, nevermind me, I tear into anything that's not my work.

Yeah, his original expression was a sort of neutral-mouthed squinting up at something look... but then the shading altered that and I couldn't get it right. Ah, well.

Some of the lines are in front of him. And it's not supposed to be scary, so that's OK.

I got bored the other day and decided to try my own bit of Trilby fan art. I opted for 'Masked Trilby', ala The Art of Theft, as I didn't really know how to translate pixel Trilby into pencil on paper Trilby.

I'm not sure if the idea of this being 'Masked Trilby' came through though, I couldn't figure out how to draw the mask yet still have some recognizable facial features show through. At one point I even whipped out my camera and took pictures of myself with a T-Shit wrapped around my head trying to figure out the right look. I eventually ditched that because his head kind of looked like some generic blob of drapery though, and instead just free handed something.

Anyways, take a look (My scanner is crappy, so the quality got screwed a little):

Heh, looking at it again, it looks more like The Question from the comics...Dammit, I may have to re-work this one...

That has got to be a skintight, latex kinda mask. It doesn't hang, it doesn't have any texture, it doesn't even have eyeholes.... think more about the drapery and the shape of his face: it looks here like its his cheeks right above his mouth that's the widest part of his face, and while I'm not someone to say that's wrong, all the art we've gotten from Yahtzee has suggested that Trilby's got a more craggy face with prominent cheekbones and hooded eyes.

Yeah, I think I'm definantly going to have to re-work this one, the more and more I look at it the more and more I don't really like it (Well, the face atleast).
I may very well have to go back to the pictures of myself with a t-shirt wrapped around my face, I'm not sure what it is but I cannot figure out how to make a mask that drapes over the face.
Thanks for the tips though, I'll start working on version 2 of my pic.

Think "wrinkles." Wrinkles and shape. Its supposed to be a black velvet mask, so it'll have dramatic highlights and lowlights and be lightweight. It's also got a hole for the eyes.

Remember, the whole point of a mask is to hide the face. If it makes the face look like a blob, well, it's supposed to! The most prominant parts of the face will determine where the cloth hangs from.

I was going off the way Trilby looks in AoT, thus the lack of eye holes, but it makes sense that that was done for the high contrast style of the cutscenes and not for realism. I kind of like having a lack of eye holes though. I've started adding in folds and such, but it's kind of making his head look rather lightbulb shaped...

The suit looks nice, though.

Suit looks alright, the shape of the tie is a little wobbly. The whole idea behind the double-breasted suit is that it adds bulk: it makes even the skinniest guy look broad-shouldered and barrel-chested by concentrating all the attention on the tie-area and providing lines that open outwards.

I think Trilby's mask had an eye-hole in Art of Theft: one of the cutscenes we could see it... I have a hard-time imagining that he would wear a mask he couldn't easily see through.

Version two is done: I added some folds and included an eye hole, so it defiantely looks more mask like now. Hopefully there's aren't many more revisions, as the papers is starting to fray as a result of all the erasing (The lower part of his face on the left side of the image for instance)

@Casual: Thanks, for a while I didn't have his suit with the pinstripes, I thought they'd be too fiddly to do, but I did them in about 30 seconds (Which made me wonder why in the hell I thought it would be so hard to do them).
The hat was a bit of a bother, but mostly because I originally had it too tall (I was using my own Trilby hat for reference, which is taller for some reason. That or I have a short head, which is entirely plausible and now that I think of it, far more likely).
Also, you just made me realize I have no idea where said hat is...hmmm...how in the hell did I manage that? My dorm room is like, 9 by 8 feet...where the hell is my hat?...

Anyways, enjoy, and tell me what you think.
