After Ep 3, what (serious or humorous) strategies would you have used (or would like to have seen used) to go about successfully toppling the Empire (either with or without the use of Luke and / or Leia in your strategy) that would've been different or superior (in your opinion) to what Lucas used in Eps 4 - 6.

Seems like something as simple as a few nuclear missiles shot into a few target areas, would have done the trick. Like the emperors house. Darth Vader’s House. Something like that. The force is great against feeble humans, but I bet its not real great against a few thousand ICBMs. And I bet you could do some real damage if you shut off those air recyclers on Coruscant. Maybe some blood coagulating agents in the Death Star’s ventilation system. Something like that.

Get an HK series assassin droid and pick off highly important meatbags in the Imperial caste of power.

It seems to me
that the storm trooper armor
does very little to nothing in ways of true protection
(because they die).

So forget those flimsy blasters.

Just come up with a plan that
wasn't devised by a power hunger princess

of a useless peaceful nation
(what do they know about war)

and use someone other that her inexperienced
twin brother as your combat leader.

Then every member of the alliance
should've just picked up an AK-47

and gone to town
on those crazy bananas

Duct tape is like the force....

There's a lightside, a darkside

and it holds everything together

I see no reason to alter eps 4 and 5. Revisioinist thinking inspired this thread, fine.

But the Chicken came before Lucas laid an egg.

Well, it'd be easy to take over after Ep. 3.

I'd just offer him some dark chocolate to come side with me. I'd have him take out Palpatine and anyone else who stood in my way. Once I rose to power, I'd have Vader imprisoned for betraying the Empire, and reinstitute the Republic. To top it all off, I would never even give Vader any dark chocolate.

Maybe something a little more serious next time.
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

"And the Evil that was vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies will rain fire. The seas shall become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked! And all creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!" - Mephisto

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

I'd build a Death Star and blow up Coruscant.

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

Darth Helena would probably kick more ass than the entirety of the Imperial forces combined.

Hmm, I have precognition as part of my Dark Side powers. I see I have an enemy. Taking a leaf from the "If I were an Evil Overlord" advice column, I would do away with my enemy as a callow youth, rather than wait until said enemy was powerful enough to threaten my power or destroy me.

Actually, I could see Darth Helena taking on GL and making him cry.

"You want me to do WHAT? HOW can I be taken seriously as the most evil creature in the universe if I act THAT stupidly?!?"

As long as we're cloning
lets take a sample from Padme's grave

and Voila instant turn around.
Anakin would kill the Emperor

and then they could rule the
galaxy together...

make things the way
they want to be

There isn't enough information about the Empire for me to really make a scenario to 'defeat' the Empire. Just how many ships do they have in their fleet? What are their shipbuilding capabilities? Where are the most loyal/disloyal to the Empire? What are the chances of getting the people to incite rebellion against them, either to distract the Empire's forces while another goal is achieved or get those people added into the main rebellion? How much commerical capability does the Empire posses?

These are just SOME of the questions to ask about the Empire... what about the Rebellion? How many ships and soldiers does the rebellion have in reserve and at the ready? Does the Rebellion have a firm grip on some planets and can use them to train soldiers/pilots/whomever and build weapons and ships? What planets do they get the resources from? Are their transporation/commerical capabilites? How would fleet actions take place against a much larger opponents? In terms of ground battles, how would the Rebellion fight, capture, and keep planets from the Empire? What propaganda devices do they use to capture the minds and hearts of those who are loyal to and support the Empire (for whatever reason)? How do they conduct their research and fund it? Do they consistantly have outsiders doing the work for them or do they rely on scientists that they rescued and/or captured to do the work for them? How would a sort of 'tonnage war' be fought against the Empire?

Again, this is scratching the surface. In truth, from the OT movies, the rebellion seemed ridiculesly small... all they had was one foothold on Yavin, and if that planet was lost, it would have spelt the end of the Rebellion. In ESB, Hoth was apparently their stronghold, even though it's conquest was apparently non-issue by the Empire (Come on, despite the ion cannon disabling the ships to allow their own to escape, the casualities they suffered in the battle was close to nothing).

Also in ROTJ, the Empire gloats, calling the Rebel fleet a 'pitiful band' (or was he refering to the team on Endor?).

I could go on to say how much more realistically the Rebelion was portrayed in the X-wing series of games, but even that leaves a lot of questions to be asked, but nothing that I haven't mentioned already. In the game Empire at War (from what I saw playing it in an internet cafe) the Rebelion is treated as if it was a seperate nation fighting the Empire as opposed to a true 'rebellion' but even that is more realistic compared to the actual movies.

Just my two cents.

Paladin raises a good point: the ridiculously small scale of both the heroes' and villains' operations is a problem throughout the movies. It's not such a problem in the 'fairy-tale' atmosphere of the OT, but it does become a major issue once you start to consider it in greater detail, and EU additions like the ludicrous '10,000 Jedi' figure only make things worse. That's one of the reasons I love KOTOR so much: while it suffered from some of the same problems, it did at least manage to give you the sense of being part of a war that was being fought across the entire galaxy.

I don’t know, blowing up the Death Star and several TIE-Fighters at the loss of 4 X-Wings is a pretty sound strategy. I guess they always could have wiped out those bastard teddy bears at the end of 6 even though it has nothing to do with defeating the Empire, hate those little things.
