Reason #31
"He can help you. He was meant to help you."

I remember this line being stated even more dramatically in the trailer. You're getting off light with the cut they ended up going with.

Reason #32
The virgin birth.

I think this is more a case of Lucas buying into the whole "Joseph Campbell and The Power Of Myth of Doom" think that faux artiste types use to justify why they like what are essentially kiddie films. This is the same string of logic that allows Taco Bell to sell "burritos." Sorry, people, but if it ain't deep-fried, it's a SANDWICH!!!

Reason #33
Baby Greedo

All right, as stated before, I'm not debating you on EVERY ONE of these. This was clearly the result of some kind of "Write a scene for The Phantom Menace" contest I never heard about, so let's get back to the C-3P0 thing. A PROTOCOL droid? To help his mother? How much protocoling does the average slave of a flying-hummingbird-elephant-Jew Stereotype junk dealer have to do, anyway? Wouldn't a "hauling, lifting, performing chores, one-day-pull-out-a-giant-fly-swatter-and-rescue-you-from-enslavement" droid been of more use to her than an interpreter?

Reason #34
Wireless Internet?
Once again we are faced with the seemingly endless and stupid supplies on the Jedi utility belt. Qui-Gon takes a blood sample from Anakin and sends it over what I can only assume is the wireless internet to Obi-Wan for analysis. Not only does Qui-Gon have the equipment to do this (on his person, mind you!)

Well, of COURSE! You NEVER beam down to a strange planet without your Jedicorder!

but Obi-Wan seems to have all the necessary equipment for a Jedi blood analysis on board the Queen's ship. I'm also disappointed in any Jedi who would have to use any sort of equipment to detect how strong the force is with someone.

Once again, you raise a valid point. What happened to "The Force is strong with this one?"

Reason #35
"Over 20,000, that's even higher than master Yoda!"

"Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. And your precise candlepower is..." Whereas I find it cool that in an era where the Jedi are plentiful and block blaster shots by the thousands, someone's doing scientific research into what gives one ability with The Force,I think Lucas should've remembered the age-old maxim of science fiction: "Poorly explained science is better than DUMB science."

Reason #36
The Chance Cube
My question is if you have a 50% chance of getting red and a 50% chance of getting blue then why the hell do you need something with six sides? Why not just use a coin? They don't roll a die at the beginning of a football game. Do they? I don't know, I don't watch football. The point is that I'm sure they can find something on Tatooine with two sides rather than six.

Again, one of the principles of Star Wars: More is better. Why have a two-sided coin when you can have a 6-sided CUBE?

Reason #37
"You'll never get me onto a starship!"

Complete agreement on this one. I can just see someone one day doing a prequel to the Lethal Weapon films and Young Murtaugh saying "One day, I will be too old for this shit."

Reason #39
The Two-Headed Announcer

Again, utter agreement here. Zaphod Beeblebrox has already done the two-headed thing to perfection, and his other head was just papier-mache.

Reason #40
Gaseous Creatures

In attempting to appeal to a younger crowd, Lucas has taken a page from Kevin Smith's book. "Can't go wrong with dick and fart jokes." And if it were a Kevin Smith film, it might have been funny.

Why even use equipment at all? Why didn't Qui-Jon thought call to Obi-Wan like Luke did to Leia in ESB. If two inexperienced Jedi in Luke and Leia can do this, I assume that two experienced Jedi should be able to. Itwould be safer and probably more efficient.

The same goes for needing equipment to sense the force in someone. Shouldn't they be able to sense whether Anakin has the force in him.

When the hell did the jedi become so reliant on technology? Why do they need a library? Shouldn't they already have all the knowledge necessary to universe via the force. I am sure Yoda with all his years has more knowledge than the Encycl;opedia Britannica. BTW the Jefi Librarian is a stupid idea. What' snext jedi Lawyers, Jedi dentists, Jedi Accountants, Jedi Human Resources people?
