As soon as I saw the topic and the poster, I knew I was going to regret it. I did.

I can see you're excited about it, so I'll be tactful and not say anything.

In case you hadn't noticed, this is 2006. There hasn't been a good website with that layout since the late 90's. Please design some form of navigation bar and a nicer way to display the main content. I suggest you use iFrames (no it's not a mac thing) 'cuz they nice and you can display the entire website through one page. In fact, I think I'll show you what I mean. Doesn't mean you can have the design, but it will show you what a good website looks like.

I agree; it looks like it's out of the mid-90s. It looks like something I'd create, having not updated my knowledge of html since I first read a book on it having just moved from Mosaic to Netscape, before I'd even officially entered my teens.

The heading is very difficult to read for me because I can only barely distinguish between pure blue and black, but I'm thinking others don't have that problem. The dividing bars are annoying -- motion and high contrast distract the eye; animated gifs should be slow and tasteful.

I like the FR banner, just in that I've never noticed an animated FR banner before.

Please don't use IFrames! Frames of any sort are the devil, and are poorly supported on any but mainstream browsers. IFrames are a twisted extension of frames introduced by internet explorer and bring back nightmares of confusing proprietary browser bugs. Mozilla and other large browsers support them now just because people started using them so much. Stylesheets, however, could do wonders for you.

I do find it likely that this is probably the wrong place to discuss this.

EDIT:
Google has a page creator that does not annoy the user by spouting popups and automatically maximizing the window.

EDIT 2:
Rock! You have a comic!
Dang. Only 1 strip.

And I agree, Beneath a Steel Sky was pretty cool.

Master Yahtzee, I don't mind lack of tact, believe me, I'd rather get the punch in the stomach. Especially from you. I don't mind if you curse me out loud, I'll welcome it!

Mr. Nimrodi, to whom were you reffering exactly?

Adam, thank you for the constructive crticism.

Prodian, umm... I've never heard of IFrames... But any program that I can use to write html pages other than Front Page Express 2.0 that runs on my crappy computer would be welcomed. (by crappy I mean CRAPPY! Like P1 166 Hz, 16 Mb RAM, 4 Mb video crappy... at least I have some disk space...)

Zazzo, I'll take down the dividers, but I don't know bout the text... If anyone else complains about it I will surely change it to... umm... I don't know, I would like some suggestions. The FR banner and others like it can be found in the links page on FR.com, if I'm not mistaken. That's from where I got it. How is this the wrong forum to discuss this? Frankly, I don't venture much outside FR's forum, except to Lance and Eskimo now and again... I've made the page on a Romanian free server that, although it spouts pop-ups and maximizes, was the best one recommended to me. I've got 100 Mb max. and no bandwith limitations. Was the comic good? I just needed something to put in the Features page, and my Red CD part 1 story kinda sucked... I can't seem to draw anything properly to save my life...

Any more criticism would be welcomed.
Thanks,
- Dan

See, now we'll all feel better 'cause the tension's gone. At least I know I will.

Anyway, I've uploaded a new version, but it's still rather crappy. I hope people will also give sugestions, not just crticism. I've also uploaded my review of Rob Blanc I.

I can only second that "GAH! No IFrames please!"-comment. Web-designers usually get fired for using that crap.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the site sucks.

As I said, I'd make one to show you an example... It's lacking graphics or... well anything but here it is. I've gotten so far into this that I'm actually considering using it for my new website which I've been procrastinating about for a while. I only used notepad and MS Paint for it. IFrames are inline or floating frames that are just like other frames but are easier to use because you can put them in tables and such.
