If you can't see a parallel between the N.Korean soliders goosestepping down the streets with tanks and flags- to a cheering audience- along with their leader perched high in a fortress overlooking it all, to that of Nazi German footage showing the exact same thing, then whatever. You're just spliting fucking hairs.

Russia is closer to China both geographically and diplomatically than they are with the US. They are involved in heavy trade and practice wargames together with their military.

Russia and Chine: Yes.
Russia and North Korea: No.

There is a big difference between Chinese and Koreans. But I guess to you they all look alike.

Your first response was serious. I only assumed you're second one was also serious.

China has a soft spot for N.Korea. Russia and China both stand up for N.Korea during UN hearings, and even now are worried about how bad the sanctions are going to be.

You can't just attack N.korea without stepping on Either countrys toes.

China and Russia are for UN actions against North Korea. Please explain how economic sanctions would step on their toes?

I just watched that video. Of course that's reminiscent of the Nazi Party's worship of its leader. More however it reminded me of the Nazi Party's chief inspiration, Imperial Rome. Anyone who doesn't think it's a big waste of money to have a huge parade with thousands of marching soldiers to celebrate a politicians birthday must think that North Korea has a shitload of money. That sort of excess makes me think of the reign of Caligula.

Ah yes, the man who called himself a God and wanted to marry his horse. On another note, when you think of Il, do you picture him singing "I’m so lonely" in his massive mansion like I do?

The guy is nuts. He's the son of a dictator, so that means he's even more insane than his father.

History has told us time and time again that sending your son to the throne, when you're an all powerful dictator, can only mean bad things. Just like Rome!

I think China will be key in calming down N.Korea. The US can only fuck it up. China doesn't want instablity in that region especially when they're in the middle of a major economic boom. I don't think people are worried about N.Korea attacking any one (yet) but are rather more upset over the idea of N.Korea selling the nuclear technology to other countries. They did sell missle systems to Iran and Afhanistan. And I'm not sure if China really cares about that stuff. I know the US does. But China could do without any drama.

I read a good article that disscused how the US's terrible foreign policy during the Bush admin has created a bond between all of the US's enemies. Iran, N.Korea, Venezula, Etc.. are all kind of supporting one another.

I think this will be interesting to follow. The US can't afford another war and therefore will naturally impose trade sanctions on Korea. But China is worried about mass immigration (illegal) spilling over into her boarders. N.Koreans are starving and dieing right now, imagine full blown sanctions? They'll be shoving themselves up the asses of horses and hiding in exhaust pipes in cars, hoping to make it over the border in one piece, to get a job and maybe food. China doesn't want that, so they will water down any sanctions the US offers. But the US, to date, has never taken an order by any one. I think, I'm pretty sure they haven't.

The US couldn't really impose meaningful sanctions against North Korea. The US currently gets most of what it needs from North and South America, with some small purchases from China, Indonesia, Thailand, and Japan. Refusing to deal with North Korea would be an empty gesture.

Getting back to my (possibly nonsensical) comparison, if North Korea is anything like Classical Rome, all the best and the brightest will be quietly assassinated, so that the reigning dictator can be assured that the people will not love his successor more than they love him. I read a bit of the history of Kim Jong Il (on the official website), and it's awesome. They use his full name every time they refer to him, so I suppose pronouns are bad. And as far as I could see, they had him running committees and doing amazing things as early as junior high. These guys don't apparently get the idea that communism is about the power of a collective people, not crazed hero worship of a deified leader.

I'm sure his people think it's utter nonsense, and live in fear when writing such a biography that they might accidentally let some critical comment slip out.

Utter nonsense - only some. Fear - almost everyone. The rest was born into that system and accepts things as they are. Happened over here in the former GDR and to some extend in the west, too.

China has all our manufacturing jobs. I just read an article that discussed how China has all the manufacturing jobs while the US is a 'paper economy'.

And it's sort of true, everthing is made in China or Taiwan. I always thought that if American Business had to aquire slave labor, then they should at least put the jobs in the South America, like Mexico. That way Mexicans can find work and it might also solve the border jumping problem.

But it looks like Mexico does have standards for workers (can't work at 3pm due to heat or something) were china does not.

I should clarify, Gobbler. When I said "his people," I didn't mean the people of the country. I meant the people that work for him directly. I am sure they think the propaganda is utter nonsense. Just like the senate surely did when they allowed Caligula to appoint his horse.

It didn’t back down during the first Korean Civil War, what makes you think it will back out of the second?

Heavy Sanctions will promote massive illegal immigration into CHina. It's going on right now and if the population is put on even worse food rations, it could definately sky rocket.

I just hoping this whole thing leads to some good entertainment, for example, mass genocide and nuclear hysteria. Whatever happens, iI will be sitting back, watchin' the show.
