Now let's see you program a 3D engine for that game. Starting now.

One.

Two...

Orrrr add some texture and render it cell-shaded with e.g. ink'n'paint and make some high-res backgrounds for the remake of Saurkraut 4. See if you can finish them before Yahtzee!

What'd you make that in?

Cel shading it would take ~5 minutes

Nope, cel shading takes just as much time, the output simply looks different.

Anyone find it odd that a game series featuring ghosts, spacships, burglary, gore, cultists, and a masked machette weilding killer comes off as coherent and well thought-out? I'm a bit nervous about how good this fourth game will be. Then again, after not enjoying 7Day a Skeptic quite as much as 5Days a Stranger only to be pulled forcefully back in by Trilby's Notes, who knows? And also, the guy in the red robe reminds me of a cultist in the game Blood. Now for an actual question, what type of interface would you guys (and gals) want to see in this new title?

Some say they want the parser, others say they want the point-and-click.

I used to attack the parser, but now I see that the next game could have both at same time, with no problem. To open a door, for example, you could click on it or type "open door".

I doubt it's a good idea to build yourself false hope of a text parser since Yahtzee said himself he wouldn't do it ever again. I guess it's not because it was too hard to program in AGS (considering the 4 games that preceded TN all involved something special programing speaking, it's safe to say Yahtzee doesn't mind losing some hair in the coding process) but because the result simply doesn't worth the effort. All the energy spend just for an interface could have been easily spend somewhere else where it would have made a bigger difference.

Indeed, you need to consider every possible combination of words that make up the action, then write synonims for each of them. Then you have to write the script for reading the command and interpreting it. All this, instead of of simply putting a few actions in the Interactions window. It's just not worth it...

PS: I would like to apologise to all the Americans and to Yahtzee and Rhubarb for taking up space.

Okay.

I spent one entire month saying the parser was a bad idea and there was always someone there to disagree. And now this. blink.gif

It's not that the interface was fucked up, it was perfectly fine, it's just that it's energy-consuming to program.

It was nice once. Don't want to see it again, though. There. Said it. Sue me.

I could give a shit. I can deal with either.
I'm just here to point out your shortcomings and stupidity.

I think most people who can spell English correctly feel like that. Those who can't... should read more books in English. tongue.gif
