Sneak Peak of New Game

That'd be freaky if one of the flashes of insanity in TN was to a room never actually seen in the game, and then that room appears as a normal room in the 4th game.

Let's now try to calculate how much time Yaz needs to finish his new game.
We know that there is one background ready. Only ten million more to go, according to himself. Let's say one background needs 2 hours to be finished. That's 20 million hours. And he doesn't even know the word "irony", right?
Now the characters. 50 is a good number. Considering that the graphics are ready (what's probably not true) then it would be necessary about 1 day to prepare each one. He doesn't make the sounds so it's about one week to "find" them all.
And the scripting, about one entire month for the entire game.
Did you calculate everything? Now double the result for the testing. And double it again, beacuse he needs to breath. What is the result?
You're aware that you gave some reeeeally fucking pessimistic estimations there, aren't you? Why the hell would a game need 50 characters? And why would it take so goddamn long to draw something? Drawing a character that doesn't look like complete utter shite takes me about one hour for my games, and if I use a template, even less. Yahtzee has probably developed a routine throughout the years to cut drawing time significantly. The length of time for finding appropriate sound effects is definitely shorter than a week. If one has an RTP for RM2k for instance, finding them takes about 2 minutes.
I know you were being ironic, but even so, this was a bit far-fetched. What takes the most time in game development is the planning of the game itself, after that, it's relatively fast.

The time for getting the sound effects is long because he is probably going to ask someone (M0ds?) to make the music, just like he did on TN.
And drawing characters is definitely more time consuming for AGS than it is for RPG Maker. Just try to make Trilby on paintbrush. And you know about the backgrounds.
I still think 50 characters would be cool. I would be a crowd, but still cool.

... so... you... need... 50 days... to... ask... someone... a... question?

Anyway, I concur with Gobbler, that's still a ridiculously long amount of time you estimate.

Are you telling me that you just need one hour to make a battle sprite from scratch? No way.
And I didn't say Yaz needs 50 days to ask someone a question. I would need only 5 min to ask a guy to make a music, or 30 min if he hates me. But the guy in question would need about one week to finish it. And, of course, there are many musics in a single game.
I also forgot to double the result again because Yahtzee is so tired lately...

There you go, Trilby à la me. Took me like a quarter of an hour. And Yahtz would be much more experienced at it, so much less time than that, and he'd make it look better with shading and stuff.
These are amateur adventure games, not epic sculpture.
