You:re all working under the assumption that it will be an action series. You guys are SO limited. We havent even begun to consider the possibilties! What if all three terminators got together and then live in an appartment and get into kookie situations? Or what if they use their zoomie eyes to become crime scene investigators?

As for the idea that films need to show random violence just to demonstrate that a character is tough, fuck that. Action movies probably should have action and suspense, but there are different kinds. Random violent murder gets old fast and takes away any significance it could have when its really needed. It also fits a dozen cliches. For the action ones its generally a bad guy killing his own guy to show hes ruthless. For fantasy, including 2 fucking versions of The Three Musketeers to my chagrin, it generally involves the evil guy murdering the character:s father. Even when the source material contradicts this utterly lame story line. And of course in horror theres the get naked and die cited by Yahtzee.

I think a quiet aura of menace, a good cold look, or something like that can work far better as well as dialogue or a backstory revealed throughout the film hinting at what the villain can and does do to people. People wont walk out of a damned theater if they:re kept waiting half an hour for some action.

Forgive me if I'm rehashing old stuff here but this show is a new thing to me as they're about to air the first episode on virgin 1 in the UK, but is this show any good?

I mean yeah the trailers look all very exciting but a gardening video could look good if you edit it right and play requiem for a dream in the background. When is this going to be set? Before or after T2? Someone else has already raised the point that only 2 terminators were sent back while Sarah Connor was alive so are they going to abandon all premise of continuity with the films and send back a dozen more which everyone will have forgotten about somehow in the 3rd movie? That’s about all they can do really unless we want to have a REALLY boring show "Sarah Connor goes to buy groceries today oh the horror!!111!". Don’t get me wrong as movie heroines go Sarah Connor was kick arse second only to Sigourney Weaver in alien, but if a veteran soldier from the future narrowly failed to kill even one in the first movie then the idea or her casually blowing away a dozen or so in-between movies will require a shitload of suspension of disbelief.

Also T4? WTF? Seriously this dead horse has been flogged so much it’s less of a dead horse and more of a collection of bloody pulp and stains on the floor. Are they trying to beat Rocky for largest number of pointless sequels ever?

So this baby, while still inside its mother, murdered his twin brother and STOLE HIS PENIS.

When I first heard of this show I thought it was going to be about the years between 1984 and 1994 when she met up with mexican gun runners and shacked up with anyone she thought could teach her something about survival.

But I saw an Add this morning...

so wave after wave after a young modern Sarah Conner who finds new and exciting ways to pop newly sent terminators each week.

LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME.

What, she kills terminators? Part of what made her so awesome and badass in the movies was that she was fighting a seemingly invincible foe, like that scene in Terminator 2 where she was pumping shotgun slugs into that liquid robot thing and they weren't doing much but she stood her ground and kept shooting anyway; any lesser character would have run away screaming like a weenie.

I saw the first episode of this the other night and got a strong "smallville" vibe from it and lets face it; that shit got old a long time ago. Best point of the episode was when she used a gun that had been built by a "best engineer" the human resistance sent back which managed to kill a terminator in one hit. Well done guys for completely ruining the whole point of the damn show FYI terminators are supposed to be difficult neigh impossible to kill it's kind of their thing. Also if the resistance could just send back people willy-nilly to build futuristic guns and leave them lying about that kind of raises the question of why they didn’t just do that in all the movies. And what’s this bullshit with sending back vaguely attractive teenage girl terminators? I wouldn’t have a problem with it if there was at least the pretence of a plausible reason for it but its fairly obvious that she's just a marketing ploy to fulfil some notion such as "nerds like boobies he he". I mean she got them out for the lads twice in the first episode alone. One episode in and they managed to completely cockslap the whole terminator universe.

Why make three movies when you can make six! Twice the profits!

I find it all ridiculous.
Sure the show is vaguely entertaining
but then you remember that they are ruining
what was once a good story

So if you ignore the foundation of the show and just go
on the facts that is a show about robots trying to destroy us
it gets better. Though i find it hard to think of
Summer Glau as anyone besides the crazy girl River from Firefly

I suppose you're right I just made my usual mistake of going into this thing with high hopes; I shall do my best to switch my brain off and enjoy a show with robots, boobs (hehe) and explosions.

My strategy for things like this is to keep my expectations low. That way, if it's at least halfway decent, I'm pleasantly surprised, which is the reason I enjoyed that movie The Hulk.

See Simpy's got the right attitude
(I hope you don't mind the nickname Simperin')
The Hulk was terrible even the dirctor thinks so
yet after watching it a second time knowing the films downfalls
it got better. Just simply BS it. And yes, Casual enjoy those boobs.

Christian Bale film? What? I don't remember him even being in any of the Terminator movies. They most certainly cannot be considered "Christian Bale films".
