I've been doing a lot of thinking and reading on this subject and can't see how those anti-semetic statements can be interpreted in any way other than being anti-semetic. They are pretty harsh.
Why use the wording it does? Why not just keep jews out of the book? Why bother tell us how they are bad and how god will kill them? I just don't get how you can read that in any other way. It explicitly points at Jews. I think Muhammad was a cranky biggoted ole piece of shit and probably an ideal representation of his day and age. The guy was minor league, yo.
Read some Islamic apolgist arguments defending the passages. They are littered on the net and most of them are really weak. They are even more embarrasing then some of the Christian ones I've read.
