That's interesting.

POTC2 is even bigger than I thought it was going to be. People must really enjoy seeing Johnny Depp.

^A New Hope was #2.

Honestly, I'm kind of disappointed by this. As much as I hated Episode III, the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie was worse.

I've heard from everyone that it was fine. What was wrong with it, Bissrok?

I loved Pirates of the Carribean, good old escapist fun with good acting. Kind of like what the PT was supposed to be. devil.gif
It seems like everyone is over the nitpicking. Too bad.

I honestly only stayed for an hour (first movie I've walked out on). I kept expecting one of the cannibals to paint a picture of a boat on a rock, and then Jack would run through it and sail away. Or, maybe they'd chase him off of a cliff and gravity would give him a couple seconds (just enough time for him to stop, look down and wave to the camera) before he plummeted.

And, of course, a "Th-th-th-th-that's all, mateys!" at the end.

I think the final straw was seeing those two pirates from the first movie (one of them's got a glass eye that still keeps falling out). Seeing those two stumble across the main characters again, on an island in the middle of nowhere, was even more absurd then the idea of cannibals eaiting a large portion of the crew, building two giant bone balls (with the last few guys inside), getting a giant rope and hanging them from the bridge. And then drawing one of the balls back up and taking it apart to throw in the elf (I can never remember his name...).

Sure, it's supposed to be a mindless summer movie, but I'm not cutting them any slack...

Agreed! When there's engaging characters that appear to truly enjoying themselves, and a wink to the camera attitude about the story, then who cares about the plot holes.
Pirates is of the attitude New Hope has, that is seriously lacking in the recent episodes. --Let's have a fun adventure.

I imagine Georges version of Pirates would overlook the fun and would involve many senate meetings on why embargoes aren't working in the high seas, and countless sit down discussions if Captain Jack Sparrow should be trusted. duh!

I have no problem with the bone-cage thing. It made for a good little joke, and it's no different from anything out of Indiana Jones. I need to see the film again. I keep thinking back on it (in a good way), so if a film gets me thinking about it, it has to be of some value.

Sorry to hear that you didn't like the movie; I will be watching it soon enough.. not in theatres, but whenever it becomes available to rent.
