Finished Trilby's Notes last night, pretty good AGS game.

I thought it might be cool to play as John in the final game.

If I've got this right, the Idol has to be destroyed for Chzu(?) to enter the real world, which would destroy John in the process.

When the cultist guys are about to destoy the idol, John does his magical appearance thing and you control him while he goes postal. That's my idea for playing as him.

Seems a bit odd, to play as John DeFoe... But perhaps if one wants to play as John, the big Y could have it as part of the special edition for the next game? You know, the way cheat codes in some games allow you to "Play" as, for example, Han Solo, even though the only difference is appearance, I don't know how AGS is made, so I'm not sure if that's possible or not...

It wouldn't really have much of a plot, since all you do is go about hacking up everyone. Plus, it wouldn't be scary at all, since you're playing as an unstoppable murder machine rather than a weakling in a waistcoat.

I wouldn't really call Trilbs a weakling, but compared to that guy, well... Anyway, in my opinion, making an adventure game with John DeFoe as the protagonist would have as much sense as making a romantic comedy with Jason Voorhees. Maybe some Duke Nukemish killing rampage, but the flaw is that you couldn't even be using ranged weapons.

You know, I had plans for a fangame of the series.

6 Centuries a Welder would have you play as first, Matthew DeFoe. It starts like the flashback in Trilby's Notes.

All that stuff happens, and you go slaying Matthew and Roderick. You bury them in the dungeon, then bury yourself, you being a retarded murderer.

5 Days a Stranger. Then you are awaken, by Phil who kills AJ, Trilby who kills Phil, and Jim who confronts Trilby and Simone. You go through the whole conversation at the end, playing as the welder, and you die.

Trilby's Notes. Your idol is collected and moved into the Clanbronwyn Hotel. Your ghost wanders aimlessly around the hotel as you aid Cabadath and Chzo.

[insert next game here]

7 Days a Skeptic. You convince Doctor Taylor to murder everyone on the ship and make a new body for him, more powerful. You wander around the ship as Barry and Serena for a set time. You do the whole chase with John, using Barry's body, then you are thrown down the ship in the reactor room. You then chase John around the ship again, as yourself, and get sucked out into space with him. You are impaled on the radio masts and die.

End game.
_____________

Yeah, kinda sucky, but at the time I thought it was a pretty good idea.

I'm kinda fuzzy on the game, I only played it once, and never again because it scared the living daylights out of me.

That's why I suggested just having it as a mod-ish thing... But, anywho, that was just what I thought...

So what part of Johns life do you play?
The part were he is trapped in the basement up until 10 or so years of age?
Or the part were he goes on an aimless killing spree for 700 years?
That is truly the dumbest idea for a game yet, good work noobie!

For crying out loud, try the decaf brand and don't get yourself so worked up, tastes just like the real thing. I think you're the only one who took this idea seriously, everyone else was just brainstorming over a new idea.

Oh, and don't you put down other people for dumb ideas and comments, dude, that's your forte.

Oh, by the way, there've been games like that made before, for instance those that feature Dracula as the protagonist. Of course, I wouldn't call those games a work of art, but they can entertain one for a few minutes.

Dracula is one thing, but John is a retard, I mean if you played as his father or brother then maybe but not sim.

You're right, Dracula is a stupid simile, but now I got this game called Stubbs the Zombie in mind. Don't tell me that guy's a bigger genius than John Defoe. biggrin.gif And that game still offers hours of fun (at least that's what the cover says), killing the living with various methods. And there was also a game whose name I forget, it involved you being a ghost scaring the shit out of the family who were stupid enough to move in to the house you "live" in, with various methods. I think these are getting pretty close to the John DeFoe theme, but again, I'm not saying this because I gave the idea serious consideration, but because it's fun to think about this.

Pretty close to the John DeFoe theme? Correct me if I'm wrong but... John DeFoe theme = a theme of horror, whilst Stubbs the Zombie & Ghost Master = comedy, and a very weak kind of comedy at that.

Well, I was thinking of a parody of the whole thing all along, sorry, I forgot to mention that. Like the bonus ending of 7DAS.
