I would just like to say that no one is infact a Christian or Muslim becouse both religons set impossibly high standards so that not even the Pope is a true believer.

And I would like to say that your propsition is silly and baseless. Not only are you made not of a religion because you screw up, to those with sense, religions have changed a bit to acommodate people becoming more educated and modernizing and what-not, so that at least some of the craziness tends to drop away for some of the part.

you say that so often it's lost all meaning.

it's not completely baseless either.

while i believe it is possible, but so unbelievably difficult, to maintian the standards set by religions, there are so few that practice it, that cobnat is amost right.

the pope is no christian by biblical standards, as his lifestyle in no way reflects any of the guidlines laid out therein.

What I am saying is that the standards set for religions these days are different than those set during the founding of those religions, and as such, not being a fundamentalist does not make you not a follower of a religion, nor does it make you necessarily a "bad" follower of said religion.

Its funny to think that less then 1000 years ago men would become priests to enrich themselves and now people want to return to the 'old values'. We (as people of all beliefs) should lower the standards and rewrite the holy books!

Barend: Ah, so it was a misunderstanding about people's general morality and the gap between how we perceive the world. My mistake.

no self respecting diety would really expect you be perfect in world so ubundandly filled with ass and shiny things...

but to at least make an effort, to not be overcome with greed, to not make shit up and go kill people over it, to not tear up the fucking lifeboat for oil, to not mutilate each other to prevent them from enjoying sex, to not burn the works of others, etc.

fundamentalists have completely missed the point.

almost as much as the pope sitting in his multibillion dollar castle home, thinking himself important because he hasn't done the nasty...

Hehe. I believe those pedophile priests were just properly owned right there. Those collective three posts get a gold star.
