That sounds AWESOME!

I live 20 minutes from Lake Huron, so I just go swimming there on hot summer days. I'm not opposed to hooking up the sprinkler and running through it in my knickers.

Haha! Abby wears knickers! </childish>

Just spend the 100$ -200$ or so and get a cheap air conditioner. When it's 102 outside, but a cool 70 degrees inside, you'll thank yourself. Just turn it off when you aren't going to be around, because otherwise you'll end up with a monster electric bill.

or do as I did and get an air conditioner for really cheap off of some grad students who are moving. it doesn't have a zillion fancy settings, but it keeps my room at ridiculously cold temperatures, and therefore my mind in a somewhat sane state.

I m having at least 3 cold baths a day. I would like to go to the seaside even though most of the waste is santized by salt which does not ich my hair as much. I don't mind that and it has proven to be live worthy to me as the fish are able to live in it.

Well air conditioners start off from around $500 dollars from where I am. I already have a monster bill and I think that is for having 5 computers on a day.

But not so monster to the one I had 2 years ago when the builders were round.

I don't know any graduates and I don't live near any but I get similar treatment with free equipment that is not fridge or freezer related.

Well I have the fan so near to the tower case and that is not helping as the video card's fan is as noisy as ever and I am not even playing any games yet.

Okay I think I'll try the fan thing again.

People needed to use that tiny fridge, the ice was nearly complete and I only kept the room cool a tiny bit in the bath for two hours.

I was able to squeeze five, two litre bottles of water in the fridge. When they are frozen I am going to get the tall table to put behind the fan. The bottles will go in line, then I'll put either foil or cloth other all the bottles to the back of the fan.

So the air flow can only go through the bottles before it reaches the fan.

Trust me, if you want to block out light, white curtains don't do jack. My mother had them up in the living room, and the only use they ended up having was looking fancy. The light goes right through them.

I'd image sticking something like tin foil up would heat the place up like an oven.

No, the idea is that the tin foil covers up the whole window blocking out all light. It doesn't really heat anything up unless you have something like a space heater pointed towards it, then it'd just spead it around.

Well I have 5 frozen bottles ready to try.

I'll put them on a mini table behind the fan and tape the foil over the bottles to the top and around of the fan.

So the air can only go around the bottles.

What do you need five computers on for? What do you do with all of those? And 500$ is really expensive for AC. ><

Apparently it was misread and the bills were not paid for 6 months due to a problem the electricity supplier but it was a shock exactly on that morning. They still kept on sending final demand letters asking for the same price until switching.

In another room: The first as a file server, for lauching two Unreal tournament games, a small site and a DNS server. Nothing special, just a Pentium 3 800 MHz processor on a Gigabyte 6BA motherboard and one gigabyte of memory.

I think the drives are:

Seagate 80 Gigabyte
Seagate 200 Gigabyte
Western Digital 120 Gigabyte
Western Digital 250 Gigabyte

So I could share them out.

And a scsi 2 controller with three 36 gigabyte drives in raid for less overheads. With 128 megabytes of cache memory for the scsi controller the transfers work so smoohtly. I got the memory out of a broken Megaraid controller. For these I have a full tower case with the doors off and many fans inside.

The second is for launching another two Unreal Tournament games and DNS server.

Downstairs computer.

Up here I have the two on because I loop the sound cards through the Aztech 2320 sound card which requires an ISA slot. It has hardware SRS 3D for the line in. I compress on the older one whilst I record television shows on the other.

Oh and I use another one downstairs for recording television shows that are on at the same time or conflict with other shows I want to watch.

Forgot to mention that now it is cold outside since yesterday in the evening due to rain. So the bottles are now ready in the freezer for when it becomes hot. I'll get his foil ready and in shape.

Someone told about a type of air conditioner that converts the heat output into powder or liquid form. I can't find any information about this type of air conditioner unless someone here knows about it.

Ah, you run a bunch of servers for your UT games. Excellent. My compliments on your choice of hard drives, too.

I picked one up at a yard sale last summer. It's not the prettiest, but it keeps things nice.

There is only one map I specialise in and that is Morpheus. I like the low gravity and turbo speed. Many players who join seem to complain about that and leave.

When players loose out they seem to moan about their pings. Some become rude and start swearing, I even got some logs to that. The problem is that they are too busy talking than trying to learn to play. Redeemers are good for chasing players through the buildings. I have many games with the Morpheus map running for more chances of people to joining. Also the IRC Reporter tool is good for that as my switch is tucked away in the cupboard.

Now tonight I am going to try that experiment. The freezer seems to have problems cooling. It is junk and low performing compared to a long rectangle one I had ten years ago.

I tried the experiment but unfortunately one of the bottles was used for the party.

It was perfect with some effort of holding the foil upwards as it kept on shrinking to the fan cover. It was very cold where where the ice bottles were as for the flow of air into the fan from the window. The air flow at the front was slow but purely cold.

2 litres of bottled ice = O

spacing = .

Complete foil covering from top, bottom and sides = +

********** = Fan

Table edge = .

Towel covering the top = ~

Table
+_______ +
+|...O...O|+
+|O...O...|+
+|--------|+
/Table
**********
Fan

Even though I used trays under the bottles, the draft and vibration inside the foil tunnel was enough force to blow water dropplets from the tray onto the foil then possibly to the fan which was worrying. Instead now I used a towel ontop and placed the bottles infront of the fan.

Fan
**********
Table
~|...O...O|~
~|O...O...|~
--|--------|--
/Table

After 10 minutes the temperature turned to 20 degrees celsius compared to 28 degrees celsius to start with. So that is eight degrees celsius difference.

A lot of foil has been wasted but I have some pictures to express.
