Dude, cut him some slack. Being responsible for millions of people probably makes you nervous when speaking in public.

... Which shows that he's prone to cracking under pressure.

Wow, wouldjalookatdat. I just actually made a point in the debate club. Go me!

Abbey: No. He's the leader of this country and the representative of the United Stated of America to the world. People expect him to be able to speak without stumbling over every word with more than two syllables during his speeches and sounding like a complete idiot every time he tries to do something clever and PR related. He's also had a good 5 years of illigitimate presidency to practice public speaking, even if that was the case and he's not really just as dumb as a post.

I also have to say that I was expecting much more of the traditional incoherent ramblings with utterly useless nonsequitur points by Dr. Lecter. tongue.gif

Well I see the difference but the subjects did not seem the same to me, the first was about the educational and prison system and what he is talking about now is terrorism. He might not be so comfortable upon talking about terrorism if he does not know what to do about it or control it. Still I read that he pays a mafia to protect him.

I found this on the way:

He doesn’t always sound like that. I've seen him give plenty of speeches where he was confident and coherent. This is just pointless propaganda to incite hatred.

What? How does this "Incite hatred"? If this were pointless propaganda to incite hatred, (which would, by the way, give it a point) then wouldn't they just say that he had NEVER said anything coherently?

I can't remember seeing any speech in which he hasn't talked like that. Thus, I can only draw one conclusion... that the media is obviously blocking out those speeches in which he sounds like he can pronounce his own name in order to... hmmm... he's already in the middle of serving his last term so it can't be to stop his re-election... to take the piss... no... we just need to listen to his excuses for the Iraq War for that... incite hatred... hmm... yes... thats the only one that works because it doesn't mean anything... ah yes. Inciting hatred is bullshit, if anything its preventing hatred because atleast now we know that its not because his views are wrong that he talks like an idiot, its because he has an illness.

i like what henry rollins said.

'everytime that man opens his mouth i have new material.' but then when on later to say 'making fun of someone who can't speak well is like punching an eight year old in the face... satisfying, yes! but you wouldn't want to make a career out of it.'

It's not propaganda, and it's not designed to incite hatred. It's just the truth as I've gathered according to every time I've seen the man speak. You might need to face it some day, Abbey. tongue.gif Whether he truly is unintelligent or not, he very plainly comes off that way. *shrug*

During Bush's original presidential debates, he was prepped and coached daily on a very limited set of topics so that he could rattle off prepared statements and sound lucid and well-informed. The same is true of his opponents. He can't have that same level of prepping and coaching when the topics are as varied as you see in day-to-day speechmaking of his job. So if he stumbles and falters, it's because he's just not that confident, lucid, and well-informed. I think it may be going too far to say he's going senile. I think he just doesn't know his job all that well, and relies too heavily on advisors and speechmakers.

I don't see how suggesting that he's going senile is to "incite hatred." I think more it's to suggest ridicule, or at worst to instill fear. Either way, I don't think that the film clinically shows anything. I'd need to see more evidence before I suggested the president were senile. I think however the film shows plenty to suggest he's not that good a talker when he doesn't have a speech prepared.

Which brings me to a point I want to make.

Did you guys see the speech he gave when he cut the stim-self funding law thingy? He was close to perfect, hardly making a mistake, infact that only mistake he made was saying 'why' instead of 'when' methinks.
How come when he is talking about something else hes stuttering like a type writter but when hes talking about that hes near perfect?
