From the databank:

"their underwater citites employ hydrostatic fields to create large bubbles of atmosphere within which they dwell. Similarly, Gungan ground troops carry portable frames which generate a protective energy field capable of deflecting blaster fire. In large-scale combat, giant Gungan shield generators can create an immense umbrella of protective shield energy that can stop laser bolts and physical objects with great kinetic energy."

Now according to the end of the newer, crappier Special Edition ROTJ, we know that the Gungans were under the control of the Empire. How come the Empire never used this technology, especially on Endor?
It seems like everyone is over the nitpicking. Too bad.

Useful against physical objects with great kinetic energy. I guess they figured that one or two twigs just didn't count as such.

Pop quiz, hotshot. Garry Kasparov is coming to kill you, and the only way to change his mind is for you to beat him at chess. What do you do, what do you do?

The sad part is: logically that makes sense.

The good part is: It still doesn't make Mr. Lucas appear more intelligent.

Because it's crap. Made fresh today, just for you. Step in enough and you just don't notice anymore.

At the very least, I'm glad that everything I hated about the PT is consistent plot-wise with things I've hated about ROTJ.
