I too was hoping the idol had some significance. But I was also kind of hoping that the holy-ish water in the basement that Trilby put in the pills would be the thing to revive him, like Siobhan would pour it on the wound or something.

Nope, we're talking about the cliché-version here, so that's Harry Potter's field and not Indy's.

Ok, he goes another unsolved questions (I've lost the count, but I think it's the 20th):

Q - Why didn't the Tall Man kill Siobhan?

PA - Because he is a gentleman demon.

Q - Why didn't the Tall Man get the idol when he had the chance?

PA - We can't say he didn't need it anymore, so let's say he didn't see it.

Hmm, don't think I agree with you on this. Siobhan was necessary for the ritual, we're not sure why, perhaps we'll find out in the sequel.

Lenkman said Siobhan was necessary because he needed the pain of the soul. I think that to see a friend of yours in the hands of a mad cultist really hurts your soul.

But that's not the point. Cabadath used to kill everyone he could in his torture altars, right? He saw Trilby dead and he killed Lenkman. Only Siobhan was spared. Why? Why not to kill her as a bonus? Because he is a gentleman, of course!

Allright, someone will say that the Tall Man killed women before, but I didn't see that. In the Special Edition, perhaps, I dont know. Maybe they were ugly women smile.gif

He didn't want Trilby dead. That's why he killed Lenkmann, he was angry at him for letting Trilby die. He wanted pain as a sacrifice, not death. If Trilby needed to be alive to experience the Agony of the Body, then Siobhan needed to be alive if she was to provide the Agony of the Soul. Also, why would he kill someone on a torture altar? Torture is about prolonging life in as painful a way as possible. A servant of a pain elemental wouldn't want to put people out of their misery.

Something else I wondered about- when Trilby was arrested, I got the impression he joined the Special Talent Project because the only alternative was jail. How did the police prove he was Trilby? If they didn't have anything to link him to his past robberies (even a witness would probably only have seen the hat and velvet mask, so it could have been anyone underneath that), he would have got at most a couple of years for the robbery they caught him in the middle of. And can you be prosecuted under a name that is known to be false?

I don't think Siobhan had tinkered with the wood of Cabadath's soul, so Cabadath had no reason to kill her. And being tied and gagged I doubted she drew his attention much anyway.

And Lenkmann said he could provide the Mind from being "highly trained" or something. Is this perhaps the mind driven to insanity by the cult, thus being in pain?

Why would the Tall Man need the idol? Firstly, it needs to remain in the Realm of Technology for the prophecy to take place; and it contains part of his and DeFoe's soul, so pissing about with it isn't advisable.

Trilby probably joined STP simply because he changed so much. (As noted in the opening game commentary.)

In 5DAS, he:

Robs a house where a tragedy has occured
Insults Simone
Mocks AJ's death
Abandons his friends, letting them think he perished in a fire.

In TN, he:

Seeks to put an end to tragedy, regardless of risk or difficulty
Tries to protect Siobhan
Feels bad over Abed's death (and Phillip's)
Seeks out Simone for her sake, not his

The change from a conceited, self absorbed jerk to a conscientous man who would think of another even while in severe pain makes TN a far superior game. One starts to care whether the MC lives or dies. It certainly doesn't hurt that the drawings of Trilby scared or hurt are far better.

Of course, the humorous remarks are wonderful, too.

Open the safe while in normal hotel
Ask Abed about "Tall Man"

I thought she just kind of tripped and fell in an unpleasant manner. Remember, most accidents still happen in the household.
