Well, the year's about half over. Seems like as good a time as any for a rundown of our favourite music of 2006 so far. Rather than struggling to narrow down a concise list, I'm just throwing out a list of all the stuff I've picked up this year that I consider to be above average. Plus I honestly have nothing better to do at the moment.
  • Aloha - Some Echoes
  • Aphex Twin - Chosen Lords
  • Asobi Seksu - Citrus
  • Band Of Horses - Everything All The Time
  • Beirut - Gulag Orkestar
  • Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit
  • Boards Of Canada - Trans Canada Highway
  • Booka Shade - Movements
  • Boris - Pink
  • Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings The Flood
  • Cat Power - The Greatest
  • Cities In Dust - Night Creatures
  • Danielson - Ships
  • Ellen Allien & Apparat - Orchestra Of Bubbles
  • The Fiery Furnaces - Bitter Tea
  • Genghis Tron - Dead Mountain Mouth
  • Ghostface Killah - Fishscale
  • Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
  • The Horror The Horror - The Horror The Horror
  • I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness - Fear Is On Our Side
  • Islands - Return To The Sea
  • The Knife - Silent Shout
  • The Ladies - They Mean Us
  • Lady Sovereign - Blah Blah EP
  • Liars - Drum's Not Dead
  • Mates Of State - Bring It Back
  • Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll (Reissue)
  • Beth Orton - Comfort Of Strangers
  • Phoenix - It's Never Been Like That
  • Pink Mountaintops - Axis Of Evol
  • Pretty Girls Make Graves - Elan Vital
  • Shoplifting - Body Stories
  • Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped
  • The Streets - The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living
  • The Strokes - First Impressions Of Earth
  • Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up I Am Dreaming
  • Tapes 'N Tapes - The Loon
  • Various Artists - The DFA Remixes: Chapter One
  • Scott Walker - The Drift
  • We Are Scientists - With Love And Squalor
  • Wizardzz - Hidden City Of Taurmond
  • Wolf Eyes - River Slaughter
  • Wolfmother - Wolfmother
  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones
  • Thom Yorke - The Eraser
  • Zach Hill & Mick Barr - Shred Earthship
I think that about covers it. I might have missed a few things that I haven't given a real good listen to yet.
I am now noticing that there is pretty much only one metal album in that entire list (Boris - Pink). Someone reccommend me some decent (ie: not nu) metal.

I totally agree with Gnarls Barkley and The Streets, maybe even Ellen Allien. Don't know all the others though, I guess I've got an educational-gap to fill now.

Decent metal... Can't recommend any current decent metal, pretty much the only "metal" I listen to is the Melvins and Fudge Tunnel. The genre is about 99.999% ridiculous and cheesy, by my estimation.
