The only reason he says "It's over Anakin. I have the high ground" is to make the audience understand that he has a significant advantage, which we would never understand otherwise considering the jedi-fights we had seen before.

I always figured he was just making some meaningless conversation. Sorta like when you and your siblings are whuping the shit out of each other and nobody seems to be winning, so you pause for a brief second to catch your breath, and with that breath you say something that you hope makes you look cool or scary, so maybe your brother/sister will just give up and you can go back to playing Nintendo and eating Captain Crunch. You know like “you don’t want any more of this, think it through” or “next time you hit me you better kill me or I’m gonna matrix-kick your ass all the way back to next Thursday.”

I didn’t think he really had any advantage by being slightly higher up - that’s just silly, and I’m wagering they both knew it. I was just as shocked as Anakin was to find his legs were suddenly missing after his flip.

Yes, but that's the whole point, isn't it? Obi Wan DID have an advantage having the higher ground. It wasn't just a throw-away line.

But even given the fatal results, it doesn't make more sense given the overall series.

P.S.: I am glad I am not a sibling of yours, Sailor Abbey
