Coca-Cola has released a new soda called Coca-Cola Blāk. There are ads for it in the subway station by my apartment but I've yet to see it in stores. Coca-Cola talks about how it's being released in the United States but I still can't find it. They did a big giveaway of the product in New York city last month but I found about it when it was too late.
I thought I had an understanding with Coca-Cola. When I ran an unfavorable review of their KMX Energy Drink a few years ago, Coke responded by sending me an entire case of their new "KMX Blue" drink along with a T-shirt, visor and pack of KMX playing cards! In fact, when one does a Google search for KMX Energy drink my review comes up third in the results (as of today). So why did no one from Coca-Cola corporate send me a case of this new beverage?
I've been into every pharmacy, convenience store and market between my house and work over the past week and I still can't score a bottle of this stuff. Apparently it's out in Europe where the thought of coffee flavored Coke is thought to be a little more palatable by Coca-Cola executives. Most of the reviews I've read have included terminology like "surprisingly not disgusting."
Even if it is "not as gross as you'd think" that doesn't mean it's going to last. It's quite clearly the worst beverage idea since Pepsi Blue and I cashed in on that big time for my Extinct Beverage Museum. I have giant cutouts, inflatable bottles, an unopened 12-pack (that unfortunately exploded) and a few two liter bottles.
So, come on, Coca-Cola! Lay it on me! Bring it to New York so I can get my grimy paws on a bottle and see for myself if it really is "not entirely nauseating."
Unless... it's extinct already!

I have not seen these selling but looking at the ingredients:
The natural flavouring and vitamins could be a good start.
I read that Sodium Benzoate preservatives can cause health problems if consumed in large quantities and some people are saying it is perfectly safe. What are your views on Sodium Benzoate?

I saw it near Chattanooga, returning from Hwy 129, otherwise known as "the Dragon" in the Smokey Mountains. I passed on it, it looked too weird. Or was it that I've seen 4-packs of it in a Birmingham Publix (for about six dollars) and I knew I'd better not pass on This drink.
didn't see the lady in the cooler, but the can color stood out. I always liked the fact that I felt rebellious drinking the original for a myriad of reasons. But there's nothing delicious about it.

Love that last part!
Making some coffee now for a work break and taking a break from the Maker's mark. Anyway, I just mixed unadulterated Coca-cola with the first of the fresh ground brew from the auto-drip.
First thought, it's not so bad. Then the label comes into view, from the Coke bottle: Drink it down.
Second thought, throw it up.
Of course I'm looking forward to my first Coca cola blak. Now where's my saber spoon?
