I'll never forgive.
Don't get me wrong, I'll get it, but I won't let up on george. This is what should of been done with the original dvd release and cost.

Dvds of "Alien" did it, "Legend" did it, etc, and for gods-sake the original low budget 'Dawn of the Dead' did it with 3 versions in one set including a European cut.
That's respect for the fans.

Instead, we pay more ransom cash to george.

You keep talking like you've been forced at gunpoint. Brilliant.

I'll forgive him if he doesn't screw it up. If the video and sound quality is up to snuff (that is, not screwy like what we were given with the 2004 set), then it's cool. wink.gif

If i recall, several people here said that if lucas did this they would fully forgive him. well, how bout it?

The images of the newandimproved OT have been seared into memory for ever. I'll never be free of the CGI buffoonery that was 'jedi rocks.' Lucas still deserves a public disemboweling as far as I'm concerned.

It's sorta like someone stealing all your family photos and being without them for 10 years, and then the person gives them back. Sure, you're glad to take them back and have them, but you're still pissed that they stole them in the first place.

Not to mention, lying about your favorite uncle and that incident with his business partners debt collector in that seedy bar.

I'd so buy that Steve Urkle version.

Yet, you're the one online asking the question. Fascinating.

I'm just curious as to whether or not it was intentional that that statement sounds like something out of those commercials for Guinness (the beer, not the actor).

See the title crawl to Star Wars before it was known as Episode IV; see the pioneering, if dated, motion control model work on the attack on the Death Star; groove to Lapti Nek or the Ewok Celebration song like you did when you were a kid; and yes, see Han Solo shoot first.

Well, clearly, the only issue left now is what kind of packaging the DVDs are going to receive from Lucas's friendly neighborhood Marketing Department. Are they going to come in a tacky, somewhat bland, uninteresting box plastered with Vader's face like the more recent Special Edition DVDs, or are they going to arrive in a tacky, incredibly cheesy box spray-painted gold and plastered with Vader's face like the older Special Edition VHS's?

They don't use the Episode IV title?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Well they apparently removed the reference to the pre-1981 original opening crawl from SW.com.

I'd like to see that too (for now I'm stuck with fan re-creations of it, and the low quality version shown briefly in "Empire of Dreams" on disc 4 of the 2004 set), but yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.

I got the impression that that isn't set in stone. And if they are using 1993 source material, there's little chance of that appearing...

Hey, I bought the gold (pan 'n' scan, I didn't realize until it was too late that there was a wide screen version in silver) SE box back in the day when it was on sale. The thing might have been a bit cheesy, but at the time I thought it was the coolest thing ever. And at least the thing has held up, it's pretty solid compared to the flimsy piece of crap that the 2004 set came in. That thing is so thin, all of the boxes were dented and scratched already on the shelf. At least it wasn't cardboard all the way through, the amray cases inside were fine.

It'll be really confusing for customers if they use the original Star Wars movie poster on the outside (like they did for the 2005 re-issue of the 2004 set minus the bonus disc). tongue.gif
