Reading stuff from people who liked the PT, and even those who did not like EP 1 and 2, ROTS seems to be highly praised.
I personally consider it to be the weaker of the new movies.

Can someone think of reasons for this to be considered the best of the new movies?
I can only assume that 1) it was the last movie and 2) it had more action than the previous ones

But I still have problems understanding why this is considered a lot better than the previous two.

I think the acting in ROTS was insanely bad. But at the same time, it was insanely better than it was in the first two films. Plus there was a lot more drama and a lot more limbs being severed, and everybody likes that. AOTC was so boring I don’t remember any of it, except for Anakins bad hair cut and Padme’s black dress. TPM was a little better, but not by much.

I think, subconsciously, people were happy to have the PT be finished and that may be why ROTS is thought of as the best of the three – they were secretly relieved to be done with the whole mess.

Its like when you have the flu and your puking your guts out, and even though each time you vomit it sucks really bad, the last time doesn’t seem as bad because you know your done and you can crawl back to the couch and go to sleep for another 20min.

Best post on this subject, ever.

Pretty much sums up everything ever posted on the forum and Chef Elf's points in a clean concise package.

I think the only thing ROTS has going for it is the expectation people had going in that we'd see everything all tied up in addition to the scenes talked about for years like Vader at the edge of the volcano and all, although I think for every opportunity Lucas had, he took two giant steps backwards. Still, Jar Jar's brief cameo at the opera scene is less annoying than Lucas' or his kids, especially his Hutt-like daughters......

I'd actually forgotten about that line. Funny it was only a year ago.

I like RotS more than the others.

Then again I also like fermented soy beans so draw your own conclusions.

Why ROTS is the "best" of the prequels? I think thats easy. It looks like someone actually gave a try to tie into the classics.
Plus...I am almost feeling like am in a pink bunny suit sending this to chefelf's board but...I liked the first 20 minutes of the movie. blushing.gif They almost feel and look like a Star Wars movie...except R2D2 flying that is...

However, it's much, much better than the other two. Unfortunately, as someone pointed out in this very board, that doesn't mean a lot.

I think AOTC had the worst dialogue.
