Police say fast-thinking Toledo girl uses hammer to fend off abductor

TOLEDO, Ohio - A 14-year-old girl has told police she escaped from a kidnapper with the help of a hammer.

Police said the quick-thinking girl found the tool in the man’s car and used it to hit him in the groin.

The girl told police the man forced her into his car while she was walking to her school bus stop on Tuesday.

Police said the girl told them she remembered a lesson from school to always search for a weapon in that kind of situation. So she told her abductor she had dropped her ring in the car and went searching for it. That’s when she felt the hammer under her seat.

She said she hit him with it, then ran to her grandmother’s house.

The suspect is still being sought.

"Police said the quick-thinking girl found the tool in the man’s car and used it to hit him in the groin."

Best. Sentence. Ever.

Maybe they can do some DNA tests on the hammer to see if it was used on abductees.
Just wondering if hammers can replace knives on streets, or that is already happening.

I know that, but can someone get arrested for carrying a hammer on the street, concealed, claiming for work purposes when confronted?

It sounds like he was trying to make money on the cheap by kidnapping, but got self defence in return this time.

Okay simply put: Can someone get arrested for carrying a hammer in public?

Okay, in that case would it be simple to use hammers as weapons in public?
(Compared to carrying guns and knives as for leading to arrests in some places.)

I mean simple as to convenient and less suspect able before using hammers as weapons, unless hammer attacks are already trendy.

"All your base belongs to us."

What base?

So someone can get arrested for carrying a knife, yet someone pretending to be a builder with a hammer can get away with it.

Yes, putting someone's head between a vice for squeezing like a fruit but only when they are awake to make the most out of the situation. Interesting to see the effects if that ever happened before. (Curious but not insane.)
