You actually can't use a longsword and a shield at the same time. Longswords are two handed.

What? That's bullshit. Claymores are two handed. Daikatanas are two handed. Flamberges are two handed. Bastard swords are hand and a half. Long swords, broadswords, katanas, gladius', sabres and scimitars should all be one handed. Are none of these present? Surely the legion would have them.

What? I think you misunderstand me, Sime. Pretty much all of those weapons are in the game. I was just saying that you can't have a longsword and a shield equipped at the same time.

Why not though? You could in Morrowind. You aren't getting a long sword confused with a great sword, are you? It just strikes me as odd that to use a shield you have to wield a dagger or shortsword, rather then a longsword.

Edit: That sounds a bit accusitory. Sorry about that. I'm not blaming you for it or anything, I'm just rather confused as to why I you can't wield a longsword and a shield combination.

From the little I was able to play the game, you still can wield a long blade (one-handed) and a shield. I think the blade you get early in the tutorial from that woman captain is a long one and then you find shields too.
And you definitely can to that in Morrowind because I am doing it all the time, for extra protection and perhaps extra magical properties.

And I found an awesome light armour in Morrowind, the Polish translation says it is "glass", please forgive me if it is in fact something else in English, but it absolutely rocks, it immediately boosted my armour class to 40.

Just curious, what level of strength do you usually reach in Morrowind? It absolutely mades me crazy when I get overburdened, especially when I find very valuable items.

I play a heavy fighter, so mine is usually rather high. But then again, my main(ie non-cheating)character managed to get 100 in all his attributes except luck. Also maxed out all my major skills, but not my minor, before I stopped playing.

I think that the sword he has is a broadsword, but Madam is right about the opening one. I guess I was wrong.

Yeah, Floppy, you're wrong. You can wield any one handed weapon with a shield. I have a dwarven shield and longsword on right now.

Well, I tried the game yesterday in my computer and it turns out that it works after all. The graphics could be a little better, but they still kick ass. So yeah, I'll probably get the Oblivion fever too.

What I really meant were two-handed swords. I just thought that all the longswords were two handed. =/

The graphics still aren't great on my PC. I managed to shut the first Oblivion gate yesterday, but I'm not going to play again until I upgrade. It was fine in Oblivion, but once I get back into the real world it chugs.

:P

I'm just trying to get through the first few. Plus, I figured I could get some rare potion ingredients in Oblivoin, even if I don't know what the hell to do with them besides chuck them together and hope it works.

Plus, I got some great armor out of it so nyah nyah.

I love that attitude. I remember playing Morrowind, Casius tells me that I look green, gives me 200 drakes and tells me to get a job and come back later. So, when I return, I'm head of the Theives guild, fighters guild, mages guild, tribunal temple, imperial cult, imperial legion, house redoran and half way up in the morag tong. So, Casius, still green, am I?
