In my signature, I have a link for "The Other Star Wars." I've taken the original drafts of Lucas' scripts and reworking them into a comic format. They're pretty close to the originals and just telling a whole new story.

Just wanted to get a little feedback on it because I'm not sure if I want to continue with them or not. So, if you have time, take a look and let me know what you think. If not, that's fine.

Dude, that is awesome. A little proofreading may be necessary, but the art is publication quality. I dare say you could generate interest and publish it. I doubt Lucas would care so long as you paid for the rights, since this stuff is already out there anyway.

If you were to consider that, I would recommend changing all the names back. I like the different look, but I'm not a fan of changing the names of characters to avoid "dstraction." One of the interesting things to me about reading an earlier draft is to be able to compare it with the published work. If you're committed to your stategy, I would recommend a glossary of changes at the back of the work, with notes for when you needed to merge characters or other big changes made.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).

Thanks for checking it out! smile.gif

A glossary would be a great idea! I will work on it.

I know I need to proofread more. I try to make these things as fast as I can since I really don't have that much time to spend on it, but I'll make a more concentrated effort to keep the grammar/etc. mistakes to a minimum.

It's pretty neat, indeed. I can't say I'm a fan of the old screenplay versions of Star Wars, but I still respect your adaptation of them.

I totally agree! I'm SOOOO glad we got what we got on the screen in 1977 instead of what was in these original scripts! Eeyikes!! My illustrated comics are just an experiment and one I'm debating on finishing or not. I was actually looking to the old scripts before TPM to see what would come out of them. It is interesting what's in them that makes it into the PT.

Even these early drafts of Star Wars are terrible mess! And the dialogue---BARF!!!! I've done some serious editing!! And characters are introduced and then disappear. It's absolutely amusing and makes me wonder how Lucas ever turned out a halfway decent script like Star Wars (ANH)!!! I'm truly convinced that he did not write them alone. I'm convinced that Marcia Lucas had a BIG, BIG hand in them without due credit, and that the divorce of Lucas had conditions that she couldn't claim credit (after all, it was she who suggested that Obi-Wan die when Lucas didn't have a clue what to do with the character during the battle of Yavin).

Anyway, Just suspicions, and off-topic.

I do appreciate everyone taking the time to read the comics. I hope to have a new installment by mid-summer.

Definately finish them.
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

"And the Evil that was vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies will rain fire. The seas shall become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked! And all creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!" - Mephisto

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

Thanks, Zatoichi. I think I will. I've been working on the next part here and will probably have it done in about a week. It's been fun getting back into it.

I did my own little "Special Editions" with part I. I've changed the look of the sabers and added some dialogue that refers to why the blades are different color... something I wish was done in Star Wars to explain the difference of blade colors. So, I figured, why not use it here. wink.gif

Well, I know I said I would have a new installment in "a week," but I've had some technical set-backs. Sigh. I'm so bad at backing up information. I have to start over again, but it will be done. I'll let you know when I get another up, though.

Thanks for the comments, though, guys, I really appreciate it. It's what keeps me going. smile.gif
