...except, of course, that this isn't true. Not only was Obi-Wan known as Obi-Wan until well after the birth of the twins, but there's absolutely no sign in the prequels of anyone ever calling him 'Ben'. So why did he tell Luke that he's been known as 'Ben' since "before you were born"? Why would he come to Tatooine, decide to change his first name to 'Ben', but leave his surname as 'Kenobi'?

I know it's a little thing, but honestly, it's really bugging me. I simply cannot think of any explanation whatsoever, even a pathetically feeble gusher-type one. Can anyone else help?

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

You're right, of course it doesn't connect. I'm not condoning revisionism of course, but it does add coherency. wink.gif

He was Obi-once,

there is no explanation, it's like Leia remembering her mother, or Yoda quiting a fight because... well, no apparent reason other to connect with the older trilogy, or Obi-Wan not remembering that "there is another" when he was there in the birth of the twins

why should we care about a story that even it's creator does not give a damn?

If you think this question is hard to answer, how about this one:

Is Obi-Wan Kenobi's brother Owen Lars? I've seen it mentioned that they are brothers before.

And early drafts of SW, right? Be careful which truths to cling to.
