Oh, Ultraviolet? I thought you meant Aeon Flux. Nah, I've only heard of Ultraviolet in this thread. Plenty of time to come here, and it's in English. Huzzah!

I just love German dubbings of about every film that exists. I remember once watching Marlon Brando riding through Mexican desert, approaching a rancho, dismounting his horse and greeting the guy in a sobrero with a rauchy "Gut Morgen". I wondered just about how did the German emigrants landed up in Mexico...
But I digress. Concerning the discussion of chicks with swords - it is the male dominated industry that just loves scantily clad females running around with swords. I dunno, fetish thing, or something...
And Mila Yoyovich is plain ugly, IMHO.

It is all good hair and makeup. I could not find any pictures of he playing Joan of Arc . She has a pudding basin haircut which made her look more what she would look like without two hours spent on her by a stylist.
I’m sure she’s still beautiful when she rolls out of bed in the morning.

Hopefully she's sleeping in another bed though. I'd be afraid she'd poke my eye out with her protruding skeleton.

A pudding basin????!!?!?!?
yeah - you put a pudding basin on your head and cut around the brim. I still could not find the pictures from Joan of Arck, but this would be something like that:

further to prove civ's opinion about her rather bony figure

I think you're looking for this:
Truly, it wasn't one of her best ideas to star in a movie in which she was not only supposed to look like a poor farmer, but also like a man.

So, I finally got around to see Ultraviolet, too. The English version, mind you, the bloody German bastards didn't lift a finger to translate it yet. Which is probably for the better, but I digress.
I must say, that I am very uncertain about this movie. As you guys have already mentioned, she's the total one-woman-army. I usually don't mind, but I think... well... she alone against fivehundred men was a little bit too much. I wouldn't have minded though if they could have made it appear like these guys were at least trying to kill her and if she had gotten a few more injuries than what her own weapons and the final boss did to her.
It was obviously an action movie, with lots of visible action, but after watching it, I somehow do not seem to be able to sense the excitement and adrenaline that usually currents my veins after watching a good action movie. I think it has something to do with the poor camera settings, positions and only half-finished fighting scenes. I guess I was somehow expecting to see Ultraviolent, not Ultraviolet. If you compare those scenes to pearls like Equilibrium, then there ain't much good left to say.
The music was fine, Klaus Badelt never ceases to amaze me, but the graphics... oh I don't know... they were switching back and forth between brilliant and very poor. The light effects were neat and some of the city-shots were quite decently done, too, others were comparable to Star Wars - Episode II - which is not a compliment, I'm afraid. Same goes for the cgi post-processing they've done on most of the faces.
But still, I liked the general atmosphere and the creativity they put into some things... and that's about it, I guess.
Okay, I'm finished, sorry, had to get that out. You can drown me now.

I still haven't heard of this movie anywhere but this forum. I'm curious as to if it's been delayed in our cinemas, or if it just skipped them without causing a stir.
