THis weekend the league of extraordinary gentlemen was on and i was bored so i watched it. i was amazed at how much i enjoyed it. i remembered it to be just some action film(it is still an action film). there were two things that surprised me. first was how outdated the cgi was. it looked pretty fake. the second thing was how much i enjoyed it despite that. the story still held up and i liked the characters. it was brilliantly put together, and it has a great story(classic novel characters living in the same world). I just really enjoyed it. im not saying its one of the greates dramas of all time or anything, but i feel its a very solid film.

As I've said before, I loved the hell out of it the first few times I saw it, but after I read the comics I just couldn't enjoy it anymore. The changes they made in the movie just bothered me too much.

Nothing short of a 4 hour mini series could have come close to doing the comic justice. The film felt like a half measure, shoe horned into an acceptable run time, with some horrendous editing.

I never read the comics so maybe that’s why I thought the movie sucked so bad. It just seemed… really boring. Not enough hot chicks with swords for my taste. Of course the vampire chick was hot, and if I recall, she used a sword or something sharp towards the end, but… I just couldn’t sit through the other parts.

Luckily it was on HBO when I saw it, so I could change the channel back and fourth waiting for the hot chick to come back on.

Mina Murray was never supposed to be a "hot vampire chick" in the first place... dry.gif

It was on tv here some time ago, too. Somehow I got the feeling that the English version wouldn't be much better than this crap. I was right.

Harpers wife in Bram Stokers Dracula.

What cheese me off about the movie is that it took a clever idea, cut out all the dark elements of the comic and created a dumb action movie. There simply wasn't enough time in the movie to cover all the characters and give adequet time to their development.

I still haven't read the original comics. I'm so ashamed of myself.

Even though I knew it wasn't a classic, I actually enjoyed the movie. It'll probably be remembered more as the last the film Sean Connery did before he retired though.

Statement:

To sum it all up, if you dont know any off the characters or dont think when you watch movies (like me) then LoEG is great... otherwise you will have a voice in the back of your head the whole time saying "Who the fuck wrote this shit!?".

Funny, that voice always accompanies me when I'm reading one of your posts without actually knowing that it was you who had posted it.

Hmmm. Well, if I’m not mistaken, Mina Harker from Dracula actually does become a vampire for a short time. Maybe they had a good excuse why she didn’t revert to her human self after Dracula’s death.
