Really? Can your dildo give you a pearl necklace? Can it take a piss? Can it blow it's load across the galaxy to create life in some old lady's womb?

Fortunately no.

QUOTE (Jejef Thgaron @ Apr 2 2006, 11:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It is not a penis.

I know. I said it does the job of one, and a damn fine job it does if I may add. But that still doesnt make it a robot. It makes it a battery operated jack rabbit.

QUOTE (Jejef Thgaron @ Apr 2 2006, 11:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You really don't have a clue what you said, or you wouldn't be arguing this point wholeheartedly. You've flip-flopped your wording to make it sound like you originally said something you contradicted in the first place. Do you understand what talking in circles means? Did you watch the Matrix? Remember all those robot sentinel squid things that kept attacking the Nebuchadnezzar? They are 'robots'. They are 'machines'. Give me one good example of a machine that isn't a robot. Think about it for a while before you answer. I'll give you one for free, so you have a basis to work off of: The Cotton Gin created by Eli Whitney. And it's your turn...

Right those things were robots. They had appendages and moved around and did stuff - they were mobile and could move of their own accord. And they were machines, good catch on that one.

My car is a machine - its not a robot.
My dildo is a machine - its not a robot.
My computer is a machine - its not a robot.
If my computer was mounted on a mechanical body, It might qualify as one, but it would have to make decisions on its own, or at least be programmed to make decisions on its own.
My blender is a machine, not a robot.
Need I go on?

I'm glad it works out for you. However, as you have already mentioned, it is a machine. You could think of a penis as an 'organic' machine. A dildo is an artificial representation of a penis... but there is a catch. It uses DC (battery) power, which I assume allows it to vibrate after you flip the switch on... correct? The vibrations that dildo is creating are implied to simulate the motion of a real penis in action. In other words, it is DOING WORK LIKE A HUMAN BEING, which therefore makes it a ROBOT. It may not be able to process math problems in it's circuitry like a Pentium IV, but it is a 'simple' robot, which means it serves one purpose. The switch closes the circuit loop to the batteries, allowing them to power the internal vibrating motor. The switch acts as a way for you to provide input to the circuitry of the inner workings to let the motor know when to work. When you turn the switch off, the loop becomes open again. I don't know if I can explain it any easier than that. It is a robot because it serves its sole purpose of giving you a masturbatory outlet.

So then would you qualify a catapult as a robot too? Since it throws rocks and all?

Dude, its not a robot. Robots do stuff on their own. My dildo can only vibrate and rotate its shaft - oh and it moves the little beads around on the inside - but I'm doing rest of the work. Those robotic arms on the assembly lines are programmed to do stuff on their own. Those robots on the Science channel do stuff on their own. My dishwasher spits out water at my dishes on a timer - that’s doesn’t make it a robot. Look, I don’t give a flying fuck what your dictionary says. You should see the dictionary’s definition of witchcraft and sorcery. Its way off. Some TVs run on batteries, but that doesn’t make em robots.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but shouldn't we be arguing about Androids, automations with human forms?

The answer is No. It's another ridiculous argument crafted to incite ire in the hearts of good people, courtesy of the PT (and it's minions).

Ok, it vibrates, rotates, and moves the beads around on the inside... and all you have to do is flip the switch and move it to the right coordinates. It does three different things on its own. It is programmed to vibrate, rotate, and move beads around. The robot arms on assembly lines still have to be plugged in and powered on. Same with the robots on the Science Channel. I don't see the difference between something that is programmed to do something on its own and something that is programmed to do something on its own... oh, wait... there isn't a difference. TVs aren't robots. They are just electronic devices.

A catapult is completely man-powered... not a robot. You don't actually make your dildo vibrate, rotate, and move beads around... it does it on its own. All you have to do is flip the switch. It is a robot.

When you wash dishes by hand, do you: A) Wash, Rinse, Dry? or cool.gif Let your cats lick them clean?

If you chose A) Wash, Rinse, Dry... that's exactly how a dishwasher works.

If you chose cool.gif Let your cats lick them clean... you have issues.

this whole argument is lame.

dishwashers are not equipped with AI!!! or any form of simulated sentience.

the dishwasher doesn't discriminate and spend more attention on dirtier dishes, not does it stop the operation when a glass is broken to fish out the pieces...

please spend more time planning your arguments in future.

They aren't equipped with AI, but they are equipped with a pre-programmed circuit board giving them instructions on what to do, how long to do it, and when to power off. Just because they have no form of sentience, it doesn't mean they are not robotic. It is a simple robot, but a robot nonetheless.

Right. And SW robots aren't called 'bots. They're called 'droids.

a calculator has a circuit board and performs far more complicated task. hooking a hose up to it doesn't make it a robot.

washing machines don't perform the tasks independantly, there's a dial on the front that clicks onto different stages of what is essentially one function. the washing machine is no more a robot than a fridge or a pair of scissors.

what the hell are they teaching kids in schools over there?

Or a catapult.

Not for nothing, Jejef - I respect some of your past arguements, but I seriously cannot see how you can continue on with this one.

That said, I will add that all this back-and-forth banter did have the distinct advantage of allowing me, for a little while anyhow, to forget the sick and horrific fact that R2 did indeed FUCKING FLY IN THE PT!!! yell.gif

So, uhhh. Thanks?
