I love the special effects on that one.
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

"And the Evil that was vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies will rain fire. The seas shall become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked! And all creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!" - Mephisto

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

I liked the tutorial. Nice terms and explanation. I was wondering how you did those. smile.gif

Alrighty, I'm back to torture show-off provide you with something to look at once again, just in case you're bored from staring out of your window.

The nebula's came out great, but something about the pose seems unnatural. I think her centre of weight seems to be a bit unstable, but I'm not really too sure.

The centre is indeed unstable. Actually, you are able to stand like this (I've tried it out (and hope that noone took a picture of that))... still, you're right, it's too unnatural, especially because not all of her leg can be seen. I'll try to not make that mistake again.

edit: And seeing as you brought it up before on the news desk, I feel I should point out that the only people who associate modern Germany with those of a few decades ago are the people who were alive and of reasonable age during the war. Or at least that's my experience anyway.

I've had the pleasure to be not very welcome in some places once the people noticed that I vos speaking viz zuch a vunny accent vor a specific reason. But I guess I really can stop complaining and bragging about that now - it's not like it would change anything.

Special effects are my speciality, but the more I look at that picture, the more I start thinking things like 'You could do better than that...'. But hang on, I've got another picture today...

Just feel free to ask anything you want to know - I just love to brag about such things, you know?

And now for something... umm... not really completely different... but yeah well... eh... uhh... just forget about it and have a look at this (that is, if you'd be so kind to really want to look at this, I'm not forcing you):

Spirits of the Water

After At the Edge of Time I promised my future self to not think of such difficult and time consuming motives again. Looking back at the days I've spent over this one now, I can only say this to myself in the past:

YOU BLOODY TREACHEROUS BASTARD! yell.gif

326 lines. About 1300 points. Hours over hours of work. And still I can't say that I regret it. Maybe it'll take some more days of intensive staring at it.

Soo... yes, some more information, let's see... well, it all started with... eh... well, with me getting more and more trapped within my own fantasy ever since I began to draw these pictures, I guess...
The three major thoughts which currently float through my brain are: twisting reality, light and darkness and the magic in between. And so this lovely young lady found her way into my mind one sunny day when I was blinded by the snow's reflection of the sunlight.

She's more blurred than the other ladies I painted, to make her appear a little bit more mystic and somewhat ephemeral, just like those lights you sometimes see at the edge of your sight, that fade away whenever you turn your head and try to directly look at them... or am I the only one who sees such things? wacko.gif

Ah, anyways... I've included my second most preferred element in this picture, hope you like how it looks.
If there was one such thing as water magic, then I would imagine it to look like this.

The fold lines in the cloth seem spot on. Well done.

But the real star is the water she's dropping.

Yeah, I guess I'm deluding myself by thinking that my name might become as famous as Luis Royo's someday... but anyways, what's mine is mine, and I'm too proud of these pictures to not sign them. Sorry. unsure.gif
I first used a signature that I created with the same technique, but it didn't really look like me, so I've replaced it with my very own handwritten signature. Yes, I know, my handwriting sucks. sleep.gif

That little thing she's wearing gave me one hell of a headache, really. I've had to alternate nearly every line about a thousand times until it looked like this... why have clothes been invented anyway?

Don't answer that. I just saw my neighbour outside. Clothes rule.

QUOTE (SimeSublime @ Mar 9 2006, 11:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
But the real star is the water she's dropping.

It drove me crazy. Really. I've tried to draw it with that technique first. And quickly - VERY quickly - changed my mind, so I did what I'm best at: Find or create the right motive and just let it flow into the canvas. Looking back, I think this mixture of reality and idealised lines set a nice contrast which completed the picture.

Okay~~, so much for that. I've done a few but I'm still trying to get better. And with all these new colours, I'm finally able to express a little bit more of what's floating around in my mind - hooray!

The black and white stuff was fun, but it takes a very good scene with the right topic to become something worth looking at - and I somehow can't find enough of those scenes in my brain right now, I guess I'm not depressive enough.

But enough of that useless talk, let's see if I can come up with better ideas in the future... hopefully starting with this:

Ophelia

This one tore me apart. From the first second, things didn't turn out as they should have. I wanted her to sit a little bit different, with her arms wrapped around her shoulders, as if she was searching for shelter, but all the sketches I made were... junk. And some more attempts just showed that I couldn't get the perspective right - it would have looked as if her left breast was 30A while the right was 35C. wacko.gif
So I've gradually came to redraw the whole scene, append some things here, turn some things there, see that nothing of that looks good, start bashing my head against the keyboard, etc. etc.
Then I noticed that this just wasn't the right way to create something with a soul and after I bashed my head against the keyboard a few more times, I sat down and sketched everything again, but this time I didn't include as much logic but tried to focus on the expressiveness of her posure instead.

Long story short - it worked surprisingly well, and so one after another, everything fell into place.

Last thing to do was to give her name. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with names... I remember some Celtic teachings about the name as a source of strength and value... but then again - I'm not a Celt.
Anyways, finding her name took me relatively long. She had changed so many times during her creation and so did my thoughts about the picture and its intention... if there was one. So I finally just leaned back and looked at her and suddenly Ophelia crossed my mind.

Think about it a little, if you want to. I think it perfectly describes the very essence of her soul. Or rather... I think that's who she really is.

Is she so thin because she's upset over how Hamlet's been acting? (Seriously, I like how you've progressed, but I think ribs showing up are gross, that's all. tongue.gif)

Gobbler, do you draw from a trace? I guess you can tap your pathed lines around, but that's a lot of effort which sometimes does no good. Your efforts are really nice, and there's nothing depressing about that.

Nothing wrong with thin girls. I think they look quite good. The mist looks awesome, and I rather like the way the hair has the odd loose strand. Makes it look more realistic.

He said before he was waiting on word from Laughlyn, so likely in a few days when he gets back.
